Reviewed from notes.
Poured into a tulip. The color is a bright orange with a nice white head and a good deal of lacing. The nose brings some citrus, pine, and a bit of tropical hops. No much of any malt in the background. Alaska is technically on the West Coast, after all, right? Emphatic yes comes from the flavor, which dominates my palate with strong citrus hops. Some pine in the background. Really nice bitter feel. Strong drinkability. Is there anything MS can’t do?

Orange color out of the bottle with a thin, foamy off white head. Big flowery hop resin nose. Flavors of hop juice, candied grapefruit rind, pineapples, with a big hop resin finish. Well balanced, big hoppy beer.

Had a 22 oz. of this one when it first came out and can’t believe I forgot to rate it! Colour... golden-orange with a head so thick you could float a power scow on it! Nose... redolently hoppy with a deft balance between the pine side and the citrus side, and a boiled white sugar character. Palate... blast-o-rama of hops! Man those aplha monsters come through! Loads of pine pitch and grapefruit skin extract followed by waves of tropical fruits, esp. kiwi, pineapple and starfruit all careening towards a sweetly bitter finish that lasts and lasts! Wish I could still find this beast!

Shipped to me by my wife on a trip to Portland. Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a caramel-amber color with a medium sized orange-white head that lingered and produced some lacing. The aroma was strong sweet pine, grapefruit and pineapple. The flavor was very sweet and malty with a strong presence of grapefruit, pine, and pineapple and undertones of sugar and caramel. The finish was long, tangy, sweet and fruity. Full bodied. The alcohol was well hidden. Marvelous.

Thanks to juiceisloose for sharing this beauty. Pours deep gold with copper core and thin white head. The aroma is up front hoppy with an even mix of pine, grassiness and resin with a pleasing level of malt sweetness and graininess creating adequate support for the hops. The taste is very well balanced between black tea, malts, graininess, resiny pine hops, grassy hops and some citrusy grapefruit too. Very tasty IIPA.

22 oz. bomber that I picked up from Liquid Solutions just before they went out of business. Pours a slightly hazed golden amber, more gold than amber, with a moderate linen white head that lasted through mid-glass and left partial lace. Very pleasant aroma of caramel and oranges with just a few notes of pine and grapefruit. The flavor backs off from the aroma with lesser amounts of caramel and orange. Its still good, just not as rich or fruity as the aroma. Dries out towards the finish with moderate bitterness. No sign of the 8.2% abv. Good stuff!

Bottle. Aroma at first lots of pine and citrus but quickly these turn to brown sugar, toffee, molasses, very desert-like. Flavor follows this sweet, decadent route, though all the hops seem to also dry it out, leaving it quite the treat though unusual for a DIPA.
