Oosik Amber Ale is a true German-style altbier, brewed with pale, Munich and crystal malts. Deep amber with copper highlights, Oosik sports a toasted and caramel malt profile, balanced by traditional noble hops. A special yeast strain ferments this ale at cooler lager temperatures, giving it a smooth malt character and a clean finish.

Want to hang—so to speak—for a while? Oosik Amber Ale gives you hang time. Great flavor, big mouthfeel, satisfying finish…all in a session-worthy beer. Compare it to other ambers—Oosik rules. Look for our 20-inch Oosik tap in better beer bars throughout AK.

You can’t just have a little Oosik.

Amber body, slight orange hue. Kind of a fruity and shoe aroma. The flavor is rough with tannins and also carries some nuttiness. Warming quality with fruityness and brown malt. Ok.

Aroma: grain and caramel malts, soft fruitiness, some floral hops. Appearance: clear amber, small, creamy, white head. Taste: light sweet. Palate: grainy sweets continue, very soft caramel, floral hops again, soft carbonation, bitter finish. Overall: OK Amber Ale, sweet and malty at first, some bitterness coming up. Pint at brewery, Anchorage.

on tap @ Humpy’s / Anchorage AK --- Clear dark caramel amber color, solid white head cover, curtain of lace. Pretty good looking. Taste is brisk caramel malt that adds fizz and medium hops on the swallow. Unexpected malt flashes back in, becoming sweeter as it progresses, but the hops will not be denied a big share of the finish. Complex and balanced, a solid brew. Recommended.

The name references a walrus penis bone, hence the tap handle. That’s Alaskan humour for you. The beer is less of a laughing matter. Cloudy amber, diacetyl and touch of biscuity malts, touch of biscuit and light caramel...thankfully tastes better than it smells.

I had this at Hangar on the wharf, Juneau AK. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was extremely hazy pale orange to red to brown (it kinda reminded me of a glossed over beer milkshake due to the haziness). There’s a slim white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute and left some light glazed over lacing. The smell had a roasted bready maltiness running through some caramel malts. The taste was heavy on the caramel malts and combining with the breadiness adequately. There was a dry roasty caramel finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a decent light carbonation running about it. Overall, honestly it was just an okay red ale but I’m trying to figure out why a beer company would name a beer after a whale’s penis.

Draft: Poured a reddish orange amber with an off white head. Aroma is caramel malt and soft hops. Taste is very unexpected fruit, sweet caramel malts and light balancing hops.
