4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
First on draft at the brewery 7/8/05, then this became my main drinker across Alaska for the next week: First of all, this is a great name (look it up). Second, this beer has a pretty brown hue and a nutty aroma with an almost nut-brown character. Woodsy, chestnuts and medium bitterness. Excellent beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A very nice aroma and appearance, a fine looking brew. This is pretty good in flavor. Not real hoppy or malty, just smooth, smooth, smooth.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at the 2004 Great Alaska Beer and Barley Wine Festival. Deep golden yellow color with a foamy off-white head. Sweet malty nose. Light for an amber with refined sugar sweetness. I know people hate this, but I'm not a big fan of this style. I liked it anyway.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
[Tap] At Humpy’s in mid-September. Pours an average amber color with a quickly receding head. Aroma of caramel malts, hazelnut, mild vanilla and grass. Toasted malts, biscuits, sticky caramel and light brown sugar in the taste. Roasted nutty notes are also evident. The mouthfeel is well above average for the style, which is a pleasant surprise. Good stuff.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the brewery. This is a nice amber with red-orange hues. A nice sweet malt, caramel aroma. The taste is about the same with a nice hop finish. A very clean and crisp ale. A very pleasing drinker, not too light and balanced very well. A must try for those in Anchorage.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft sample at the Schlafly Repeal of Prohibition Festival. Midnight Sun mistakenly brought this and the Ale Slayer instead of the Kodiak Brown Ale and Fallen Angel Golden Ale. Pours a clear, rich amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel malts, toast, grass, grains, and a bit of mixed fruits. Flavor is almost exactly the same, really smooth and malty with some underlying fruitiness. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a malty, juicy mouthfeel. Drinks so smooth and easy; well above average amber ale.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft @ brewery - This is a very good, but very simple and easy drinking amber ale. Has enough malt character to keep your palate from getting bored, and a satisfying bitter hop bite in the finish. I really wish this was bottled, it would make a great everyday drinking session beer.
