CaptainCougar (4664), Rockville, Maryland, USA Mar 22, 2008 Bottle thanks to timmcdPours a transparent dark copper mahogany amber with a stringy-lacing off-white head. Aroma of slightly earthy dark caramel malts and a hint of raisins. Body starts lightly sweet and earthy lightly fruity with a touch of drier, toasty dark caramel malts. Finishes drier and bittersweet with a touch of thinner mildly caramely sweetness and light tartness. A decent English strong ale. hopdog (4648), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA May 2, 2008 22oz bottle shared courtesy of TomDecapolis. Poured a deeper reddish/brown color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of toasted grains, light spices, some raisins, and nutty. Tastes of light spices, toffee, grass, and raisins. JoeMcPhee (3815), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jul 5, 2008 Deep orange-brown beer, herbal sweet aroma. Some light orange peel over an earthy sticky sweetness. Light brown sugar. Biscuity, cookie dough sort of sweetness with a fairly sweet and chewy body. The sweetness gets pretty cloying and I’m glad I don’t have to drink much more of it. egajdzis (3021), Terrapin, Pennsylvania, USA May 2, 2008 Poured a lightly hazy, chestnut color with a small, light tan head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel, light all spice, floral hops, a bit of citrus fruits, and fruitcake. Taste of more caramel malts, some nuts, earthy hops, toast, a bit of noble hop spiciness, and light alcohol in the finish.
