3.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: OCT 5, 2013 This is 2013 vintage bottled. The pour is fantastic with a good, toffee brown head that dissipates quickly. The aroma is, no kidding, wet dog. Getting past that, flavors of malt, unsweetened chocolate, bourbon and hops. Thereís an acidity in the middle that took a few drinks to come I out. Smoke is light. Mouth feel is smooth and viscous. Overall, this beer drinks better than I scored it, but I canít ignore that initial aroma, and my wife, with no leading said exactly what I was thinking.
After drinking the whole bottle by myself, Iíve decided I like it. Itís a bit "trashy", with its taste of ashtray and cheap whiskey, and sophisticated, with the dark malt and oak, and hops.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at midnight sun... Silky thorough black pour, paler towards the edges, and topped with a wispy creamy film of medium khaki head... Aroma of chocolate yeast and roast but somewhat missing on the smoke aspect that barfly exhibited... Flavors of chocolate, black licorice, roast, yeast, and notes of ashiness on the backend. Pretty full bodied for a second running with mild carbonation. Smooth profile but wishing for a more pronounced smoke quality. Not bad by any means.

Draft: Poured a deep black with a thin cream light brown head that dissipated rather fast. Aroma is soft smoke and chocolate. Taste is super dark bakers chocolate with soft hints of smoke. Towards the end of the glass it picked up and also had roasted coffee bean grit to it.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap @ MSBC. Black pour with a long lasting creamy tan head. Aroma of smoked malt, coffee, oak and medium roasted malt. Flavor is some acidic smoke and coffee with a semi-sweet roasted malt base, very light alcohol taste. Full body with mild carbonation and a thick oily mouth feel. Drinkability is pretty good for such a big smoked beer. Excellent smoked beer, especially for it being a second running. Canít wait to try Barfly.
