3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at the brewpub. Deep amber color with a thin big bubbled head. Grapefruit hop nose. The only oak I get from this beer is when it warms. This has the fresh grapefruit rind and big candied orange peel that I get from the regular sockeye. I donít think that IPAs are enhanced much by barrel aging, and while the source beer is great I donít think the oak added anything.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap @ MSBC. Clearish amber/red with a small beige head. Aroma is citrus, pine, caramel, vanilla and a hint of onion/garlic. Flavor is bitter hops, sweet caramel and a light boozy vanilla from the oak. Medium body with average carbonation and a sticky mouth feel. This is a nice Sockeye variant, the oak is very subtle and adds just a bit of vanilla and booze.
