| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 17, 2009 Bottle from Liquid Solutions, enjoyed out of my new Bruery tulip glass. Pours a great slightly hazy reddish-amber color with a frothy, lasting off-white head and good lacing. Aroma is caramel, pine, and citrusy hops. Flavor is a nice mix of a red ale and a Pacific northwest IPA. Malt character is mainly caramel, and there are loads of citrus (mostly grapefruit) and pine hops. Great balance. Medium-bodied and extremely dry and somewhat bitter on the palate. Another impressive offering from Midnight Sun. bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA

Grapefruit, light pine, and light malt flavor. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Good grapefruit and pine flavor lingers. coyotehunter (546), , Michigan, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Oct 9, 2009 Thanks Scrizzz! Smell is all Centennial hops with a dash of caramel thrown in. And, much to my chagrin, there is in fact no hot dog smell here. Thanks Joel. Hands down an outstanding example of a simple but excellent IPA. The malt and hops come together in a marriage of bliss. Lots of grapefruit rind, light pine and some orange. MrBunn (1526), Western, Pennsylvania, USA

Body is a lovely copper with a tan head and aromas of pine, lemon, grapefruit a little caramel. Flavor is frickin dynamite in a bottle. Hops and hops with just enough malt to keep it all in check. Finishes with a brisk pine and grapefruit bitiness. Thanks Matt!!!! Hank1980 (744), Athens, Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 28, 2009 Bomber. Poured redish copper with a beige head. Aroma is really nice citrus hops, some pine, and sweet malt. Taste is really hoppy, with plenty of citrus with some pine and lots of malt backing. Mouth is really nicely carbonated, very sticky and sweet. Overall, a nice big hoppy brew. neepsntatties (320), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 21, 2009 Had this on tap at Humpy’s in Anchorage on August 16th, ’09. Colour... cloudy garnet-amber with a thin tan ecru head. Nose... splendidly hoppy with some malt as well. Palate... gentle carbonation followed by strong citrus, resinous hops and plenty o’ malt to back it all up. Very nice balance and a long finish! yemenmocha (354), Glendale, Arizona, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Aug 15, 2009 Note: this bottle was brewed by Uinta Brewing Co. in Salt Lake City, Utah for Midnight Sun Brewing, Anchorage, AK.
Dark Amber, perhaps a tinge of brown in the color. Tan head is generous and retains nicely.
Aroma is surprisingly faint for an IPA. Has a fresh "clean" aroma with some light citrusy notes and a whiff of pine.
On the palate the hops give a steel-like metallic character that dominates, followed by a prominent dry character that holds through to the finish. This is a dry, dry hoppy beer.
Mouthfeel is thicker than I’d expect for an IPA even though the alcohol strength is a touch low for an IPA. Average drinkability - even if I craved this beer above all others in the fridge I’d never drink more than one in a given sitting. jcwattsrugger (5241), Florida and, New Jersey, USA
