Grapefruity aroma with some caramel and a touch of diacetyl butterscotch and lemon. I was disappointed by the flavour of this beer--it was way too heavy on the bittering, which hid most of the caramel and pine hops flavour that was trying to get through. My taste bud eventually becamse desensitized to the bitterness; towards the end of the big bottle, some toffee and hops flavour came out a bit more. Light body and astringent with considerable carbonation. steerpike (28), Greenfield, Massachusetts, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 19, 2005 Red-orange hue. Thick and pillowy head even when poured carefully. Nice full mouthfeel. Hop spice is very piney/citrusy. Oranges and lemons - In fact, the thickness and peaks in this overcarbonated beer’s head look kinda like meringue in a lemon meringue pie. Sweet malt makes a short cameo somewhere in the middle. Not greatly balanced, and overly dry in the finish. I would not get this beer again, considering the price. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 2, 2005 Deep orange color with an enormous off-white head. Aroma has caramel, fruits, lots of pine and hops. Flavor brings more of the same, fruity with apples and oranges. Lingering strong bitter finish, off-kilter balance. A decent IPA. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 27, 2005 Hazy orange ale with a thick creamy white head. Pinhey hops with stong sweet citrus aroma. Sweet honey hoppy beer with orangey notes. Rather overhopped in my taste, unbalanced. Medium bodied. JRBowie (18), Atascosa, Texas, USA

This beer will give you long lasting beer breath do to the HOPPPPPSSSS. Ah that was good. MartinT (5050), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 22, 2005 The Lure: Soapy, perfumy oranges impart a flowery character to the hop aroma. A Gargantuan, lasting-head sports huge bubbles, sign of a zealous carbonation to come. Plenty of chunks float about, and this is not the bottom of the bottle.
The Festivities: Grass blades ride the obese bubbles and reach their orange, resin and soapy hop friends with chalky, drying results. Malt is felt but not expressive enough, carbonation is overwhelming, and the mix of hops does not entice me to drink much of it.
Transcendence: Walking near a megastore’s perfume section always hurts somewhat. Rastacouere (5553), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Mar 21, 2005 Bottle-conditioned, hazy amber-orange. Huge off-white head. Frothy, big sticky bubbles. Highly soapy and lemony (lime) nose, perfumey and tartish. Strong melon, lemon pie and mandarine aspects. Surprisingly tart in mouth, salty hop profile fights off a lemon pie sweetness. Very floral, melon-like. At the same time, strong bubbles unveils a chalkiness that certainly disturbs overall enjoyment and brings up a particularly dry and stone-ish finish. Overcarbonated like many Midnight Sun beers. Medium body.. Weird and original IPA, but not quite there. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Mar 21, 2005 Strong herbal, tangy grapefruit-orange, floral, perfume-like hops in a soapy aroma. Hazy reddish-brown with immense, large-bubbled, tan head with brown flecks in it, that recedes slowly to cover. Very sweet flavour is very dry and over-attenuated. Aside from the sweetness, there is no malt body. Strong medicinal hop flavour, again seems somewhat soapy. Bitterness feels rather aggressive without the malts there to support. Strong carbonation is also unpleasant. I’m wondering if perhaps there was a mild infection to this bottle. Bottle sampled with Lubiere, MartinT and Rastacouere.
