Commercial Description:
Brewed in the bold spirit of Alaska, Sockeye Red IPA is a finely crafted Pacific Northwest-style India Pale Ale with a real bite. Ample pale two-row malt creates a fresh, firm body while specialty malts impart a spawning red hue. The predominant character of this fiesty catch comes from outlandish portions of Centennial, Cascade and Simcoe hops, giving this beer tremendous citrus and floral aroma and flavor. Determined and bitter but amazingly balanced, Sockeye Red is gnarly enough to take you hook, line and sinker. Forget about a bigger rig; grab a bigger glass.

Pours a darker red color with a decent white head. Aroma was nice and hoppy with a slight malt nose. Taste was very bitter, like i expected, still had a nice hop taste though.

Pretty decent IPA. pours darker than normal, amber/orange mostly. A bit of head, decent lacing, nothing special. Aroma is spicy, piney hops, a but skunked, which is disappointing. taste is of sweet cara malts, decently hoppy but mostly bitter. Pleasent, overall, but I’ve had better.

i was impressed with the hop flavor in this brew. It started of witha fruity aroma, the taste was mainly hops nice bitter dry hops. There where some malty tones to it, but the hops made this beer.

Dark red color, nice frothy head. Fruity nose - cherry taste. Kind of acidic taste, but only shortly and weak.

I was a little dissapointed, as I've heard good things about this brewery. Seemed a little over the hill as the hop aroma had faded from what I thought it should be. Quite malty for an IPA and not overly bitter. I'm sure this would be real tasty when fresh.

Full-on hoppy aroma -- leafy, woody, green, earthy, spicy and flowery with just the barest hint of toasty malt. Dark red-amber color, lightly hazy, with a massive, lasting, rocky off-white head and thick lacing. Flavor profile is almost entirely hoppy: citric, woody and mildly fruity, with a touch of toasted malt and burnt caramel arriving late. Finish is crisp and dry. Moderately high amount of bitterness throughout. Could use a bit more maltiness to balance out, but does feature a nice palette of hop charcteristics.

Dark copper/bronze coloured body with a large dense tan head. Aroma of floral-fragrant hops with a good balance of malt and little else. Light to Medium-bodied; Assertive hoppiness up front of a floral quality, then finishing very clean. Aftertate has some sweetness-but is left very clean and fresh. Overall, a great 'easy-to-drink' IPA, definately worth trying! I bought this 65 cL bottle at Whole Foods in Vienna, Virginia and sampled it on 04-January-2004.
