fakepurseninja (772), Washington, USA May 1, 2009 Updated: May 15, 2009Crystal amber body with a soft white head. Light sweetness with marvelous floral hop character. Citrus, pine, and a slight grassy component make this an ideal-type NW IPA, one of the best I’ve had in quite sometime. Very refreshing and enjoyable.
Update - 5-15-09; Did not realize it until today but this was my 100th rated singleIPA. Great drink to mark the moment! Fan-fucking-tastic! yobdoog (1420), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Apr 23, 2009 Really nice hops and malt balance for a red. The hops are crisp, citrus and a bit of greenery. Not weak at all. BrianK (190), Livingston, New Jersey, USA Apr 18, 2009 Bottle shared by VFerg some time ago. I really enjoyed this one. Great hop and malt profile. Everything i look for in a Red IPA. mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 14, 2009 [1950-20090116] 22floz bottle. Heavy hops aroma has mild grassy notes. Clear, amber body with a medium-lasting creamy off-white head. Toasted hop grass flavour is bitter with lots of wood background. Medium body is quite bitter. Wonderfully hoppy but a little one-dimensional, though (granted) perhaps just in comparison to the few already imbibed this night.
(w/ blankboy, garthicus, GregClow, jerc) hayduke (1619), Eureka, California, USA Apr 7, 2009 From a 22 oz bottle this poured a very clear amber color with a thick and foamy white head and good lacing. Nose is a powerful citrus and floral hops on top of a solid malt backbone. Very smooth and clean mouthfeel. The flavor is quite bitter and the finish is quite bitter and long-lasting. Very solid IPA and enjoyable to drink. BeerNeedy (60), Anchorage, Alaska, USA Mar 19, 2009 22 oz bomber, Immediate sweet aroma of hops and pine. Poured a brassy coppery clear red with not much head (who cares). Flavor is excellent and full bodied and the hops and malt really answer the bell. This IPA finishes with quite a bite but that’s OK given the overall quality of this ale. Midnight Sun knows the way of the hop. graham515 (420), Houston, Texas, USA Mar 19, 2009 Pours reddish amber into the glass with a white head. Aroma is citrusy. Flavor is lacking enough malt backbone to stand up to the hops. Astringent hop bitterness is all I get out of this one. Cletus (5001), Connecticut, USA Mar 2, 2009 Pours amber with a finger length off white head. Smells of citrus and melon. Tastes floral and bitter with some sweetness on the finish.
