Commercial Description:
Brewed in the bold spirit of Alaska, Sockeye Red IPA is a finely crafted Pacific Northwest-style India Pale Ale with a real bite. Ample pale two-row malt creates a fresh, firm body while specialty malts impart a spawning red hue. The predominant character of this fiesty catch comes from outlandish portions of Centennial, Cascade and Simcoe hops, giving this beer tremendous citrus and floral aroma and flavor. Determined and bitter but amazingly balanced, Sockeye Red is gnarly enough to take you hook, line and sinker. Forget about a bigger rig; grab a bigger glass.

Light hazy amber colour with an off white head. Hoppy, piney and fruity aroma with hints of spome malty sweetness. Hoppy, piney bitter flavor with npotes of peach and pineapple.

Great ipa. The cascade citrus hop flavor dominates the taste even with the strong bitterness. Great body and head along with a wonderful malt flavor. Mouth feel is great enough to warrant mention. Had to bring a bottle home of this one. Wonderful ipa.

Clear medium amber color with a large, frothy - creamy, good lancing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is caramel, pine neddle, moderate to heavy hoppy, grass, grapefruit, orange. Flavor is moderate sweet and heavy bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. (190608)

Beautiful burnt orange, thick white head collapsing to little marshmallow islands, leaving thick ropey lace. Big fresh fruity aromas of grapefruit, blood orange, and subtle sweet malt. Generously malty, and equally generously hopped with massive cascade citrus and passionfruit flavours and a long bitter finish. This IPA strikes the perfect balance between maltiness and hoppiness without tipping either way (not too sweet, not too astringently bitter). The best IPA I’ve had in a long time. Shared with Parksy.

Clear copper kettle coor with a frothy tan head that lingers. Awesome smell is pine forest hops with wet kona bud. Frothy yet somehow at the same time creamy mouthfeel. After this the flavors a letdown with mild piney hops and lightly sweet malts. Great aroma, average flavor.

22oz bottle. Not your typical IPA. Amber color, light yellow head. Fairly good balance of hops and barley, kind of a cross between an Amber and an IPA. In theory it doesn’t sound like this beer would work but they pulled it off. The thing I like about this beer the most is that it’s a year round drinker. Usually I drink IPA’s in the summer but this one goes down good even in the cold Alaska winter.

22 oz. bottle - purchased at Belmont Station; mostly clear, dark reddish amber; foamy white head settles quickly; sweet and sugary aromas; grassy hops; not too bitter and thin body; flavor on the light side and lacking that IPA punch; kind of blah
