3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Reviewed from notes.
The appearance had a red/brown body with a one finger white foamy head that dies within thirty seconds leaving a decent amount of sticky lacing.
The smell had a thick citrus/pine hops, soft cranberry coming through (interesting for an AIPA, but actually quite nice - I like it).
The taste was pretty bittersweet through the hops and malts backing it up just slightly, nice bittersweet aftertaste, dry finish.
The palate was about a light to medium, fairly sessionable. Carbonation seems to be spot for the style and for me.
Overall, this is a good AIPA that I always try to keep some in my beer refrigerator no matter what.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAR 21, 2014 Big bottle. Pours darkening chestnut with a heaped Belgian foam. Aroma of red berries, blackcurrant, juniper, marmalade on Hovis. Sweet balanced, moderately floral and juicy red berry hop flavour with a pounding of juniper; soap, lavender, satsuma and liquorice hints. Malt emerging in a balancing digestive and dry roasted finish. Aromatic, floral and multicoloured on the belch. Good fresh hop. Excellent.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a dark reddish orange from tap. Uneven head, big and small bubbles, slightly greasy looking. Taste of sweet caramel, hops are grapefruit and cedar, attenuated by the sweetness but lingering on the back of the palate. Head smears rather than laces down the glass. Dirty but delicious!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle to glass. Not sure how old. Pours a mostly clear deep copper amber color with a light tan head. Aroma is a moderate citrus, floral hops, with sweet amber malts. Most of the hop flavor is lost in the flavor, with mostly amber malts shining through. A touch of piney floral hops hidden in there. Light to medium in body with a funky finish. Good, but not great. Have definitely had better from Midnight Sun.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Can. Brownish red, thin khaki head. Smells faded, with tai at citrus hops, caramel and toasted malt. Flavor is essentially the same, flat, faded and boring. Shame, would love to have this fresh and I bought this at a great store on the west coast.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottled Week 4, July, 2011
A: Pours a reddish brown ale with a short lived finger of peanut head which falls to a sheet of the same. Spotty lacing. Great clarity.
S: Piney, and has a spruce tip smell. Some citric rinds and bitter smells. Indicates the smell of bitterness over the top of some decent malts which are sweet and somewhat caramel like. Smells like an Impy Red, not an IPA.
T: Wow, grapefruit. I canít recall having had a beer with more grapefruit (ruby red) flavor. Iíve had more with plenty of grapefruit nose, but this is like straight grapefruit blended with a beer of darker amber base. Some hints of metallic leftovers.
M: heavy for the style with lively and bright carbonation. Fairly easy finish.
O: Good beer. Miscategorized as an IPA, and tastes like an Impy Red, but Iíve gotta say itís a good beer regardless. I dig it. Dunno why Iíve resisted it so long.

Can from BevMo Mira Mesa. Pours dark orange with a thin white head. Has some nice grapefruit on the nose. Has a bit of resin and citrus on the tongue. Itís a bit subdued especially since the nose is nice. Finishes clean. Solid!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle thanks to somebody, rating from my backlog. The look is a big foamy cream colored head, copper colored beer. The smell is hops, pine, fruits, ok, and citrus. The taste is pine, some bitterness, pine, and citrus.
