COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed in the bold spirit of Alaska, Sockeye Red IPA is a finely crafted Pacific Northwest-style India Pale Ale with a real bite. Ample pale two-row malt creates a fresh, firm body while specialty malts impart a spawning red hue. The predominant character of this fiesty catch comes from outlandish portions of Centennial, Cascade and Simcoe hops, giving this beer tremendous citrus and floral aroma and flavor.

Determined and bitter but amazingly balanced, Sockeye Red IPA is gnarly enough to take you hook, line and sinker. Forget about a bigger rig; grab a bigger glass.

Picked up a bottle of Sockeye Red IPA at the specialty beer store nearby. First thing I noticed was a really nice head--got nice and chunky and an inch above the rim of the glass. The aroma was a nice standard hoppy IPA, but quite strong. Same for flavor--a little hoppier than an average IPA.

@ best western americania 16-3-6: rätt söt och maltig med små humletoner och socker. Lite för söt.

Draft at brewery. Dark reddish amber, ring of foam. Aroma hoppy spruce and fruit. Taste hoppy lemon rind, some spruce, touch of mint, with some malty back bone. Palate smooth, carbonation moderate.

Draft at the source. Clear deep reddish amber color. Aroma of lightly spiced burnt caramel. Taste is bittersweet malt. Delicious.

Can from Andy. Dark amber with a tan head. That is an odd one - sorta old orange and citrus aroma, somewhat musty, caramel malt, some spice, mild carbonation and moderate body, slightly astringent, fairly grainy with some hay, bitter and fairly malty on the finish.

You can always bet on an Alaskan beer being good. What else ia there to do but brew beer? Of course a lot more, but there are priorities.

Can at home. Thanks Andy! Pours a dark Amber / brown color with fast dissipating white head. Aroma is light pine, caramel malts, a bit of toast, a bit of spice. Taste is pine, a bit of spice, caramel, toast. Moderate bitterness. A bit earthy. Pretty good. Medium body, high carbonation. Solid.

Medium reddish color. Great lacing. Strong, clean, grapefruit nose that actually made me say "wow" out loud. Strong bittering hops start, mixed with a floral/grapefruit taste, before a lasting bitterness takes over. Great level of carbonation.

Pours two fingers of head on a hazy dark straw body. The aroma is big grain and lemon. The taste has a malty start, then a moderate lemon bitterness. The texture is thicker and fizzy. Nice.

355ml can. Pours reddish orange with a small head. Aroma of berries, herbal hops and grass. Taste is sweet, caramely and malty with some berries and herbal hops. Finish is sweetish, malty and caramely with some berries. Decent.
