Damn, that’s a HUUUGE small beer! Draft at the brewery. Black. It’s freaking black. Still. Nice clean (weird descriptor but it is) aroma with chocolate and dark fruits. Great flavor, really unique. Soft anise notes, milk/dark chocolate, and blackberry. A notable lack of bitterness, which is a good thing. Smooth, silky palate with medium body. Great beer.

Pitch black color, dark brown color. Tons of bourbon, molasses, maple syrup. The mouth is very full, sweet, rich maple, molasses, truffles, bourbon, tounge numbing, dark fruit in te mouth. Really warming finish, with lingering truffles, molasses and maple finish. Big beer, very complex.

On tap at the source... Pours a silky solid stout black hue, pretty thorough throughout and topped with a creamy khaki head... Light roast and cocoa aroma, slight tints of yeastiness. Black licorice. Pretty straightforward ... Milky, smooth chocolate and mild roast flavors upfront. Light bitterness in the backend. Touch of chalk and light smoke coming through late and through the finish. A touch of darken fruitiness also surfaces.

Had on draft at the brewery. Slight sour, chocolate, fruity, apple, woody. I did not find this to be as enjoyable as the rest of the offerings at Midnight Sun.

Growler to oversized snifter (thanks mikem409). Looks good; pitch black with thin white lacing. Smells good too; roasty and molasses. Tastes solid; much like it smells, but a bit thin. Average on the palate. Good.

Dark black in color, clear with a thin head. Huge dark roast malt and light hops aroma. Nice flavor and smooth taste. This comes in at a light 8% but it is terrific. Being a second run this was a very tasty warm brew,
