22oz bomber from SHIG, thanks man. Poured a slick dark black with an a aaverage smaller dark beige head. Aroma is sweet syrupy dark chocolate, nut shell, dough, dark fruit skins, alcohol and slight anise. Flavor is pretty much the same but no alcohol or dough and more roastines and burnt toast. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation and an average duration on the aftertaste Good stuff.

Draft at Uber for the Midnight Sun cigar pairing event. Pours jet black with a dense and creamy dark tan head of mousse that settles to nice creamy suds. Big roasty nose, lots of dark chocolate, almost a peppery rye note, toasty crusts of black bread. Creamy thick heavy body. In no way does this begin to suggest a small beer or second runnings at all. It’s a big bad glass of suds all on its own. Lots of dark chocolate, toasty black bread crusts, and an even more pronounced rye-like note on the mid palate. Complex and interesting. Long earthy toasty finish. Worth many repeats.

[2/15/15] Draught at City Beer in San Francisco. As Midnight Sun Son Of A Berserker. Black with a brown head. Aroma of roast and coffee. Bittersweet roasty flavor with coffee and some dark chocolate. Medium to full-bodied.

Bottle purchase from La Bodega in Anchorage. I thought it was a double stout so I poured it into a tulip. Sorry about that. If there’s a next time, I’ll pour it into proper glassware. Anyways, the appearance is jet black in color. A one finger white foamy head dissipated within about a minute. The smell had a luscious roasty dark chocolate with a fairly light coffee blending nicely. The taste was basically the same with a sticky sweet aftertaste of chocolate leading to a smooth refined palatable finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a decent sessionable quality to it. The carbonation is extremely smooth. Overall, I liked this one and would come back to it if given the chance.

Pitch black with a one-finger tan head and no lace. Aromas of dark chocolate, coffee - the chocolate in particular is wonderful - as well as dark fruit, brown sugar and earth. Bittersweet, like baker’s, chocolate flavors with earth and dried dark fruit accents. Full body, moderate carbonation, creamy smooth mouthfeel and a very dry finish.

On nitro at Beer Baron. It pours a very dark brown color with a thick creamy tan head. The aroma is a little sweet with milk chocolate and roasted malt. A little licorice. The flavor is smooth and creamy with nice chocolate, dense roast and light raisin/fig dark fruit. Very balanced and tasty. Top notch.

Bottle. Pours dark black with a medium to large creamy tan head, slow to dissipate and nice lacing. Aroma is very roasty, chocolate and vanilla. Not really getting maple. Flavor is light sweet and medium bitter, nice and roasty, cocoa notes, a touch of smokiness. Body is a bit light and watery, but otherwise an excellent stout.

On nitro at Harry’s Hofbrau. Pours black with brown head cascading down the glass in small bubbles. This one is a little disjointed and seeking to find itself - perhaps not finding the approval of its father as much as it had hoped. Slight chocolate and restrained roast. Could not be more beautiful in the glass. Was oily and viscous coming out of the pour. Flavor is slight roast coffee and moderate grain.

Nice. Nitro at Capitol Tap Room. Still has the chocolate and molasses and light barrel going on. Less sweet and obviously less body and abv, but VERY nice for a small beer. Super smooth and tasty.
