Pretty close to black...on 2nd runnings? Wow. Milk chocolate, and Malted milk aroma. Sweet, malted milk, touch of chocolate and sweet finish.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours black with a creamy dark tan head. Aroma seems chocolate and dark treacle. Med + body. Flavor is some chocolate and some dark malt that might have treacle (or dark fruit with something sweet?) Really tasty.

On tap at Capitol Beer & Tap Room. Pours Dark brown with a rich tan head and a chocolate aroma. There is a smooth chocolate and dark molasses flavor with a dry finish. Very tasty, especially for a "small" beer.

Nice. Nitro at Capitol Tap Room. Still has the chocolate and molasses and light barrel going on. Less sweet and obviously less body and abv, but VERY nice for a small beer. Super smooth and tasty.

Draft at Uber for the Midnight Sun cigar pairing event. Pours jet black with a dense and creamy dark tan head of mousse that settles to nice creamy suds. Big roasty nose, lots of dark chocolate, almost a peppery rye note, toasty crusts of black bread. Creamy thick heavy body. In no way does this begin to suggest a small beer or second runnings at all. It’s a big bad glass of suds all on its own. Lots of dark chocolate, toasty black bread crusts, and an even more pronounced rye-like note on the mid palate. Complex and interesting. Long earthy toasty finish. Worth many repeats.

Growler to oversized snifter (thanks mikem409). Looks good; pitch black with thin white lacing. Smells good too; roasty and molasses. Tastes solid; much like it smells, but a bit thin. Average on the palate. Good.

The MS brewery had this on tap a couple months back in December and January. It was the second runnings of 2008 Berserker and then some...Pours black with a light brown head. Good roasty malt aroma with chocolate and molasses. Medium body with the MS house chewy yeastiness. Rich, roasty flavors at first with dry blackened malts, then a milky semi sweet chocolate taste to finish. Another great stout from these guys.
