I have a fairly limited cellar/fridge selection right now, but this seemed like the perfect beer to use for a nice celebratory drink! Anyway, this is another really nice one from Midnight Sun. I’ve been lucky enough to try a few, but I’d like to get my hands on more of their beers for sure. Not only it this one a complex and flavorful beer, but I found it to be both really interesting and really good as well.

UPDATED: FEB 24, 2013 Crisp copper and amber coloured body with a nice rich tan head, about two centimetres tall. Aroma of light spice, a bit of brown sugar, some earthy malt and a hint of nuts - nice and complex. Medium-bodied; Nice robust earthy malts at first with a definite pumpkin and spice flavour with some light sweetness behind. Aftertaste shows a mostly dry and spicey flavour with a lot of nice malt, some sweetness and also a hint of peanuts. Overall, a good and complex beer with a bunch of flavour and a nice malty flavour profile. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Half Time in Poughkeepsie, New York on 26-December-2012 for US$9.99 sampled at home in New Paltz, New York on 21-February-2013.

Golden amber color out of the bottle with a thin white head. Nose of sweet malt and some spice. Malty beer with some white sugar and honey sweetness with some subtle nutmeg and spice flavors. This was an easy drinking beer and not as big as I expected from a Midnight Sun pumpkin.

Tap @ Elysian’s Great Pumpkin Beer Fest... Poured clear, golden orange with a white head. Big Belgian yeast esters with some pumpkin spice. Residual sweetness from the malt and a drying, yeasty finish. A little underwhelming compared to the others at the fest.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 after4ever (5284) - Brier, Washington, USA - OCT 8, 2011
Draft at GPBF. Pours a cloudy medium gold with a loose sudsy white head. Artichokey funky nose. Tangy and almost vegetal--not DMS, it smells like esters that got a little sideways. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Mid-palate is a big bruising smoosh of artichokey tanginess. Spices in there as well.
