BlackDonald (724), On a beer trip all over the USA, California, USA May 12, 2008 This is great stuff! It’s a completely different beer though, now that it has some age on it, the bittering hops have pretty much died off and it is just full of sweet, juicy maltiness now. when it was fresh, the hops exploded out of the bottle, an initial aroma of fresh cut flowers and some herbal and citrus notes as well. Really well structured and layered, with a deep integration of fruit flavors, maltiness and hops. Nicely done!
Beerlando (1157), Orlando, Florida, USA Jul 22, 2008 Pours a very cloudy, glowing tangerine color. A foamy, cream colored head is well retained, leaving nice sheets and flares of lacing behind. Bright notes of grapefruit, tangerine, and lemon explode from the glass, followed by a hefty resin billing and a soft, dry, Belgian yeast overtone. Flavors are again heavy on fresh, juicy citrus and bitter, resinous hops, with just the right amount of malty sweetness. The drying yeast really lends a crisp finish, enhancing drinkability and imparting a refreshing quality that not many double IPAs can achieve. Medium-full bodied and moderately carbonated. Wow, what a great beer. This is how a Belgian style double IPA is meant to be done. SoLan (1166), Orlando, Florida, USA Jul 21, 2008 Courtesy beerlando. Hazy orange topped by a large white head. Aroma of huge floral, spicy, grassy, resinous hops, estery and earthy yeast, and some malt sweetness. Same flavor. Pleasantly dry finish keeps it drinkable. Full/medium body, balanced carbonation. Excellent brew. MaltOMeal (237), Land of Sugar, Texas, USA Jul 1, 2008 bomber from brewboone. Pours a cloudy, pale amber with a big, fluffy off-white head which lingered. Lots of carbonation going on. The nose on this was of citrus and floral hops and was quite nice. Taste was sweet peach and doesn’t taste like a IIPA. Must be that the hops are fading because this one doesn’t have a strong hop taste to it. definitely not up to par for west Coast IIPAs. The mouthfeel does have a bitterness that lasts long afterthe finish, but this boy has lost it’s bite. What a shame! I was truly looking forward to this and am disappointed. Maybe the summer heat got to it. Ty5592 (1002), Hatfield, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 14, 2008 Updated: Jun 15, 2008Bottle from Suzygreenburg, Thanks! Pours a hazy straw yellow color with massive white head. This beer smelled of straight WEED and grapefruit. The taste was basicly the same with light sweetness and bitter citrus finish. Damn fine beer.
