COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Mezcalmannen (395) - Oslo, NORWAY - SEP 17, 2011
UPDATED: SEP 18, 2011 Medium sweetness, some sourness, tastes of caramel. Sweetness to the finish and aroma as well. You can notice the alcohol both in aroma and taste. All in all, too sweet to get a better rating from me. Colour is amber, there is some nice lacing, white to brown foam. Moderate to low carbonation. (50 cl bottle)

Hazy dark marhogny with a small beige head. Aroma: Barley, bread, sugar, plum, raisin, yeast, maybe a little chocolate, alc. Taste: sweet, burning alc,, but ok balanced by the bitterness. A little too sweet, but still a good and complex beer.

jikvig (269) - NORWAY - OCT 29, 2010
Aroma; A very sweet, malt nose with caramell, mocca, a hint of nuts maybe? Flavours; More yeasty flavours in the mouth, with some yeast, leather going over to caramell, sweet coffee and brown sugar. Summary; Not an overwhelming BW, and that´s what I like about it. You can have a whole bottle without totally feeling up my stomach.

Frothy white head. Clear dark brown color. Nose is raisins and bit of booze. Tastes the same. Rather thin compared to other barley wines.

Overall, this was an excellent beer, and I can see it being paired with vanilla ice cream or lamb as a main course. Pours with a cloudy mahogany color, culminating in a medium-sized tan head that disappears quite quickly. Not a tremendous amount of lacing with this one. The nose was sweet: caramel, butter, dark fruits – very sugary. The mouth feel was syrupy and the flavor was wonderfully sweet, much like the nose, and with a distinct alcohol taste. I will certainly try this one again. Would certainly try it again.
