COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Nice and thick one here shared with McTapps. High drinkability, high gravity and lots of fruity + dark aromas. Berries, plums, some malt and alcohol. Reminding me of a high alcohol fruit syrup = special but fine.

(Bottle, BBE 21-01-2012, at Mallaskukko, Turku) Aroma combined dark fruits and malts nicely. Alcohol forced its way through, too, but not too intensely. Palate was really dry which made me think the beer might not be fresh - no problem with this style. Strong maltiness continued in the taste with some dried plum and medium bitterness and sweetness. For such a strong and heavy brew this was easy to drink and flavour remained nice all the time.

500ml bottle

BBE 15-03-2014 - Pours dark orange with a foamy white head. Aroma of sticky sweet syrupy notes, hints of caramel, gooseberries and spices. Taste is sweet, malty, caramely with notes of gooseberries and syrup. Finish is sweetish and caramely. Decent, quite sweet and malty barley wine.

500ml bottle. Barely clear, deep copper colour with small to average, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Sweet-ish malty aroma, notes of raisin, plum, caramel, candied fruit, a touch of sherry, marsala. Taste is slightly sweet caramel malty, hints of orange liqueur, sugar powder, a touch of raisin and plum; temperate sweetness, well hidden alcohol. Oily texture, soft, minimally sticky palate.

Flaske 0,5l fra Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget. Drukket hjemme 12 Des 12. Amber. Uklar.

Terracotta pour, clear, yet quite sedimented at the bottom, covered by a quickly fading head. Highly aromatic, very English aroma where vibrant fruity esters poke the rich biscuity, caramelly, honeyed, toffee laden, sweet yet satisfyingly balanced toasted maltiness. Brightly extracted malt flavours quickly bring that ale to sweetness levels that are beyong my usual preferences. Its almost intense fruitiness, of an almost juicy nature, especially taking into account the very soft, almost timid carbonation, acts as a counterbalance to the malt’s sweetness, bringing the focus to a vinous territory, one of a dessert wine, perhaps, but one where ample, chewy texture never feels quite syrupy and minimal, tea-like hops, maintain the focus with eloquence. Broad fruit range covered here: plum, peach, white grape ans strawberry: a fruit salad amid a strong cerealic foundation. Staying two-dimensional throughout - fruit and caramelly malts - but doing it with conviction and no abuse. Surprisingly very impressive to me.

Countbeer (6083) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - DEC 21, 2011
Draught: Small vast yellow ish head, that disappears very slow. Very hazy amber/orange colored beer. Smell fruit, orange, malts, caramel, light toasted malts, barleys. Smells good. Taste is even better: sticky barleys, sticky malts, some sweets like caramel, some light brown sugars, herbs, light bitter and the slightest hint of honey. Nice (sticky) barley/malty light bitter/herby aftertaste. Low carbo, soft mouthfeel, full body and an oily sticky thick creamy texture. Delicious beer, well balanced and smooth.

Sampled @ Copenhagen Beer Festival 2010. Amber body with a nice off-white head. Aroma of sweet, ripe fruit, malt and some alcohol. Flavor is sweet malt, caramel, some roast, dry fruit, warming alcohol and moderate bitter. Rather sweet, but very nice.

Bottle: Poured a deep hazy brown color ale with a medium size foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of toffee and caramelized sugar notes is quite intense though doesn’t fall into gross territory. Taste is also dominated by very nice toffee and caramelized sugar notes with limited amount of piney hops. Body is full with god carbonation and no apparent alcohol notes. I really enjoyed this beer since it veered closer to English-style barley wine with well balanced flavours.

Draught at SBWF 2010 (Elixir Wine). It poured a hazy amber liquid with a small white head. This is a well balanced Barley Wine, with a thick malty body and nice sweetness.
