COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Red amber body and bubbly instable head. Pleasant herbal hops over amber malts. Sort of English ale with Eastern European appeal. Interesting but unexpected. Very sweet, but not quite the aromatics to justify these. Warming alcohol overpowers too. Unbalanced. (50cl bottle from SpeciaalBierPakket)

Bottle 0.5l at Pikkulintu, Helsinki. BBE 02-09-2012. Well, this is ole bottle so aromas and flavours are practically raisins, sweetness and malts.

50cl flaske. Brun med off-white skum - holder kort tid. Meget sød med smag af karamel og kandiseret sukker. En tand for sød for min smag.

Frothy white head. Clear dark brown color. Nose is raisins and bit of booze. Tastes the same. Rather thin compared to other barley wines.

Aroma of sweet malts, caramel, fudge, raisins, ripe fruits, barley sugar. This Barley Wine is caramel fudge beer incarnate. Flavour is heavy sweetness, loads of caramel and caramelized sugar. Admirable, especially the aroma, but a bit too sweet and sticky for my taste.

Small bubbly shortlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet fruity, caramel malts, raisins, sugar, toffee, citrus, grapes, almond cake, hints of butterscotch. Taste is sweet, caramel malts, sugar, "knekk", hay, butterscotch, grass, almond cake, oak. Medium bitterness, sweet mouthfeel. Fair enough.

Pours a coppery colored with a small head. Aroma of oxidised caramels. Sweet with dark fruits. Taste is sweet malts and liquified dates. A very faint metallic hint, probably due to the oxidation. Full bodied with soft co2.

500mL bottle, pours an opaque dark amber / mahogany with a medium beige head. Aroma of caramel malts, vegetal notes, and dark fruits. Flavour brings out caramel malt, toffee, and residual sugars. Very well-balanced, without too much residual sugars. Decent stuff.
