Bottle, 8.2%. Sweet and papery aroma, late hint of salt liquorice. Not black, but a very dark brown colour, seems clear. Very big stable light brown head. The flavour is also sweet and slightly papery. There is a roasted liquorice note, like raw liquorice. The liquorice lingers on for quite a while in the finish.

This stout is black with splendid solid foam where small yeast residues remnant on top and shows an unfiltered stout where all the flavor and aroma nuances are retained. An aroma of dark chocolate and coffee rises from the glass, but the thick rigid foam covers securely over more good surprises. The taste is good, bold dark chocolate with a sprinkling of distinctive mocha notes. Slowly smooths the mochas bitter tones in a taste of sweet english licorice with few bitter undertones towards the end. Finally, it provides a sweet stout with beautiful complex flavors of coffee, chocolate and especially licorice. Easy hoppy end pulls the aftertaste into an eternity which, for my part, like may last a lifetime. This stout is simply a masterpiece. A stout that should be enjoyed over a long time and which rewards the patient with long delicate aftertaste constantly change character and nuance. A wonderful stout!

50cl bottle, served in tulip. Pitch black colour with medium white/beige head. Aroma is liquorice and sweet malts (faint), not in line with regular Imperial Stouts. Same taste, lacks heavy dark malts...that is something most IS fans surely don’t like. Almost no bitterness, the palate is basically sweet. Medium body, good carbonation. It’s ok, different. With my eyes closed I wouldn’t have guessed it is an IS...something rather intermediate.

Clear, very dark brown. Fizzy, airy and unstable light tan head. Roasted aroma with licorice. Similar flavour, sweetish with roasted bitterness.

Bottle. Pours cloudy nearly black with airy tan head. Clear aroma of caramel malt, fruit, liquorice and roast. Bitter, roasty flavour with sweetish notes of malt, caramel and yeast. Bitter notes of liquorice and hops. Roasty and estery aftertaste. Decent but not really extraordinary.

500 ml bottle @ Fox and Hounds, Aabenraa. Pitch black body with a creamy beige head. Aromahas dark, roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and liquorice. Flavor is really smooth, sweet dark malt, gentle roasted, dark chocolate, coffee and perfectly integrated salt liquorice, not too much and not too little. Fine balanced body as well. Very well made. Thanx to Christoffer at F&H.

Black body with a large, light-brown head that sticks well to the glass, and it never vanishes completely. Roasted and strong aroma that not surprisingly is dominated by liquorice. Also strong notes of chewing tobacco, ash and coffee with some gentle smoky hints in the back. The liquorice is very present in the strong flavours as well, especially in the long-lasting and moderate bitter finish. Other flavours include dark roasted malt and coffee. Moderate sweet initial taste. Full body, oily texture, moderate to soft carbonation. A nice beer, but I’m afraid it got a couple extra points due to the the following facts: 1) I bought the bottle in a cozy chocolate shop in Roskilde last summer vacation, 2) The Black liquorice is lovely and I’ve got a box of that stuff next to the bottle of beer, 3) The label is beautiful.

Tørv, lakrids, meget let kaffe, sort ristet duft. Helt sort. Ret sødlig og rund stout. Smag af lakridsrod og engelsk lakrids. Lakridsroden hænger i munden bagefter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled. Pours deep, dark brown with a small, lacing, tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and licorice notes. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry and rather bitter. Medium bodied, oily text. and soft carb. An interesting and quite tasty stout.
