Bottle. Dark brown with a beautiful small head. Aroma has chocolate, dried fruits, cinnamon, liquorice and a very nice roast. Taste is nicely subtle, but packs a punch as well. Liquorice and coffee dominates, rounded off by a smooth, slightly hoppy finish.

Bottle. Thick, creamy caramel head resting upon a pitch-black, oily-pouring body. Very, very nice - this is just how a black beer should look like. Nose is dark, sweet malts, black currants and hints of licorice and slightly lactic-smelling grains. Taste is licorice and black currants at first, then shifting to coffee, toast and slightly sour black currants. Hints of dark chocolate. A parching, ash-like sensation comes in late on the palate, giving the otherwise rather fruity and not too bitter beer a dry finish. Full-bodied and rather low on carbonation. Near-tart aftertaste of black currants, licorice and ashes. Very nice. This is really a top-notch brew within its category.

(Bottle, 0.5 l, at Pikkulintu - shared with Rosenbergh) The beer poured deep dark brown and almost clear. Its head was medium sized and brown. Aroma had roastedness, nicely liquorice and hops. Palate was full bodied and dry with low carbonation. Flavours were coffee, chocolate, hops, mildly sweetness, liquorice and bitterness. Aftertaste had liquorice, hops and bitterness. A really pleasant beer. The flavours were strong but in my opinion they weren’t overdone.

Bottle @BBF 2010. Highs: Nice sweet aromas, namely coffee and chocolate - the sip supports the scent. Lows: The aftertaste is neutral, leaving the want for another sip...

At Borefts BF 2010. Black colour thin tan head. Lovely roasty aroma. It’s a decent overly roasted beer. Decent bitterness on finish. Choc and intense touch of espresso. Solid.

Bottle enjoyed@Håndverkerstuene, Oslo. Tall coarse choco head. Pitch black body. Fat malt aroma. Roast, dark rye bread and dark dried fruits with an acidic twist. Lots of licorice, too. Full malt flavor, rich with a refined sweetness. Roast again, tones of tar, and lots of licorice. Noters of cocoa and dark fruits. Juicy in the mouth. Tasty, powerfull and complex. A treat.
