COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: The Double IPA is an American inspired, dark amber beer with a beautiful light coloured head. The brewer has chosen to dry hop this IPA which adds to the full and complex hop profile of Cascade, Chinook and Centennial. The IPA has a very full body, with a soft yet strong flavour and a very bitter finish - the result has to be experienced. Goes with spicy dishes, but is best enjoyed on its own.

0.5 l bottle from Alko. Hazy deep amber color. Aromas of toffee, flowery citrus, pine and perfumy alcohol. Bitter and toffeish flavor with nuts. Fairly restrained lemony and piney hop character for a dipa. Not bad in a barley wine category.

bottle - dark amber body with an off white head - hoppy caramel nose :-) sweet malty with a massive hop flavour, and a bit to much alcohol

Bottle 50 cl, Alko Arkadia. Dark brown pour with little red in it. Aroma has malty sweets and lots of hoppyness in it. Too much sweets to my taste really. Dryish finish.

UPDATED: JAN 11, 2012 Bottle at home Dark amber colour, hazy, with a frothy off-white head which diminsh fast, but stays as a thin layer. Smells of of fruity hops and grapefruit. Flavours of grassy hops and more fruit. Feels little bit slick and oily with a round and nice heavy bitterness which stays for while. Overall a beer with a lot of taste and is well balanced.

Bottle 50 cl, Alko Arkadia. Pours deep cloudy red copper with a huge creamy beige head leaving lacing. Aroma is great! Balanced mix of big maltyness, sweetness, fruityness, raisins, fidges and citric hoppyness. Flavor is fruity, pungent, bitter, citric, piny, malty and a bit phenolic; very good. Finishes sourish dry and bitter.

500ml bottle, vin-og-gaver.dk. Intensley sweet and heavy, the alcohol is verging on overpowering and the hop characteristics are buried under an avalanche of caramel and sugar. This is not a bad beer, but too much for a bottle of this size. When you compare it’s style and ABV with, say, Brewdog Hardcore, there is no comparison. This has no subtlety and lacks refinement.

Medium amber cloudy body with a medium, off-white head. Excellent lacing. Intense aroma with both massive hops and lots of malty stuff: overripe or close to rotting grapefruit, spices, green grapes. And sweat. No, it’s not a typo for "sweet". The decomposing fruit and sweaty parts are a bit too dominating, making the aroma far from the refreshing, sweet fruit basket that I want my (D)IPAs to be. The taste is medium sweet and heavy bitter, with a long-lasting, heavy bitter aftertaste, very nice! Flavours are resin, grapefruit and well hidden alcohol. The flavours lacks some complexity, fruitiness and crispiness, and far far in the back there are some hints of the unpleasent elements from the aroma, without really being too disturbing. A nice beer, but please get rid of the rotten fruit.
[50 cl bottle, gift from Rikke & Tor]
