English: The Double IPA is an American inspired, dark amber beer with a beautiful light coloured head. The brewer has chosen to dry hop this IPA which adds to the full and complex hop profile of Cascade, Chinook and Centennial. The IPA has a very full body, with a soft yet strong flavour and a very bitter finish - the result has to be experienced. Goes with spicy dishes, but is best enjoyed on its own.

31-JUL-2009, Bottle @home. Brown with creamy head. Malty nose with (off course!) some bitterness. Very barley wine-like as I often find the malty IIPA types. Creamy, soft, not alcoholic. Perfect:-)

Bottle from Briskeby Vinmonopolet, Oslo. Appearance: bonus point awarded by Dirtman for tenuously Cov-themed elephant label. Reddish tea-like copper lacing with beige. Buttery floral rose aroma, yeast, slight caramel and cheese, bile. Mellow custardy softness and butter (for a DIPA), slight floral hop, digestives, pear and strawberry esters, alcohol barely noticeable. Drinks like a caramelly English bitter of half the strength. Not bad, but lacking hop pungency.

A clear orange/light brown colored beer, with a thick foamy beige head. The aroma is hoppy, sweet, fruits like citrus. Some malts. The taste is dry bitter. It has fruits like citrus with some spices like pepper. The aftertaste is dry spicey and bitter.

Orange/amber ale, small though lasting off-white head. Fresh, hoppy aroma with grape fruit and hay. Hoppy flavour with underlying malty sweetness. Grape fruit, pine apple. Hides the ABV well. Good carponation. Sugar sticky palate. Dry, medium bitter finish. Overall nice - had expected more hops.

Bottle. Nice medium dark amber body. Pale brown nice head. Heavy hoppy aroma. Mostly fresh fruits, but also some coffee. Some fruits in the flavour too, but more malt and bitterness. A slightly bitter abd sweet finish. Low carbonation. Well hidden alcohol. (At home, 13.06.08)

Pours creamy golden with generous short-lasting white head and lace dots accumulate in the glass. Rich hop and malt aroma, boozy too. Bit above averge mouthfeel with a very acceptable C hop, understated..ageing may have served it well. Carbonation right there and suitable. Nice 500 ml, expirey but a few weeks back. About average DIPA overall.
