3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Gently hazy dark amber ale covered by an everlasting white cover, endurant indeed for a beer of this size. Intense aroma feels as malty as it is hoppy. While the dry-hopping has faded more than a little, there remains plenty of floral, citrusy, oily resin aromas. On parallel, estery fruits and butterscotchy diacetyl fit nicely in, hinting at upcoming sugariness worthy of any English Barley Wine. In mouth though, it is not as simple. The resinous hop character is strong enough to greatly attenuate the sweetness sensation, that’s almost a miracle considering the initial fruit candy and caramel attack. Despite being probably almost a year old, it maintains a certain freshness, hops have been preserved nicely enough and their bitterness certainly is all there, cutting through the malt’s toastiness swiftly. Round and almost suave mouthfeel. Very malty, even by Danish double IPA standards, but that may be why I enjoy them , when crossing the Atlantic, they just can’t compete with fresh IPAs that have not suffered the same travels. Might as well make them different and more complex in their own right.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
500ml bottle. Clear light copper body, medium beige head, ok retention, tons of lacing. Aroma of rye bread, malt caramel, rotten fruits, honey and corn. Taste is aggressively hoppy: wormwood, herbs, a touch of orange candies, malt. Too aggressive, not a lot of flavour.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a hazy deep amber colour with a creamy-bubbly off-white head that has great retention and beautiful lacing. The nose is really not what I expected. Lots of cereal grain and hints of nuts. The taste is where the hops appear, and even that is not as grassy as expected. Metallic notes, but not as bad as most beers that have this. Good bitterness that lingers. Is this really 9.2% ?? Goes down too smoothly. Different than most DIPA, and not in a bad way.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from the LCBO. Cloudy orange amber with a small off white head that recedes quickly to a ring leaving sparse lace. Nose is toffee with resin, alcohol and light floral notes in the background. Light sweet toffee support a quite bitter grapefruit and pine that lingers through the finish. Body is medium+ and sticky with soft carbonation. Malt doesn’t quite support the bitterness.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
500mL bottle, pours an opaque orange amber with a large beige head. Nose is very fruity, with piney hops and stone fruits. Flavour is wonderfully fruity, with piney hops, tropical fruits, citrus and dry crackery malt. Quite a lot of body without being too malty. Quite bitter and highly drinkable. Excellent stuff.
