3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Gently hazy dark amber ale covered by an everlasting white cover, endurant indeed for a beer of this size. Intense aroma feels as malty as it is hoppy. While the dry-hopping has faded more than a little, there remains plenty of floral, citrusy, oily resin aromas. On parallel, estery fruits and butterscotchy diacetyl fit nicely in, hinting at upcoming sugariness worthy of any English Barley Wine. In mouth though, it is not as simple. The resinous hop character is strong enough to greatly attenuate the sweetness sensation, that’s almost a miracle considering the initial fruit candy and caramel attack. Despite being probably almost a year old, it maintains a certain freshness, hops have been preserved nicely enough and their bitterness certainly is all there, cutting through the malt’s toastiness swiftly. Round and almost suave mouthfeel. Very malty, even by Danish double IPA standards, but that may be why I enjoy them , when crossing the Atlantic, they just can’t compete with fresh IPAs that have not suffered the same travels. Might as well make them different and more complex in their own right.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
50 cl bottle
Appearance Copper body with on top of it stable frothy head of 2 fingers. Leaving some lacing
Aroma: Strong heavy resins, a huge amount of caramelised malts, very powerfull. But a bit one dimensional. .
Taste: Powerfull, but it’s unbalanced. Sweet caramel and heavy resinous hops, with a strong finish with some spices and were the alcohol kicks in a boozy way even slightly burning overtime.
full body, slightly below average carbonation.
A lot of powerfull stuff, but i’s not fully working., specially when the alcohol is comming too much through in the wrong way.

3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Copper body and stable frothy head. Heavy aroma with resin and concentrated sweet malts. Very imperial indeed. Strong taste, quite alcoholic yet not nasty at all, just powerful. However, towards the ending it all becomes too much. The alcohol burns a bit. Unbalanced. Not bad at all and great aroma with complexity, but I can’t get over the sharpness (even while I love alcohol in my beer). (50cl bottle from De Hopduvel)

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bitter dissapointment. Hahahaha! Anyways, aroma of sweet malts, malts, malts, pine and way too much alcohol. Oh yeah and sweet malts! Taste is sweet (no kidding) , soapy with a sharp hoppyness (grass, a bit of citrus) and a bitter spicy finish. Verdict: totally unbalanced, not refined at all and quite frankly rather poor double IPA.

On tap at O’Connors. Hazy orange with white head. Aroma fruity, orange, grapefruit, alcohol, caramel and mild solventy notes. Taste i boozy, caramel, grapefruit peel, high bitterness and some residual astringent bitter notes in the finish. Quite nice
