COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor's note: Voted best new beer 2007 by the Danish Society of Beer Enthusiasts.

English: Imperial Stout is a dark and rich beer with a beautiful dark cream coloured head. It’s brewed from several types of roast malts and conditioned on oak, which adds to the heavy body. The Imperial Stout has a strong and growing aftertaste of coffee, bitter chocolate and vanilla. Suited for game, strong cheeses and chocolate desserts. Or may be enjoyed alone in a cognac snifter in front of the fireplace.

50 cl bottle from LCBO. Toronto, ON. 9.5% Alc./Vol. Pours an opaque dark brown colour with a small lasting mocha head. Aroma of coffee and vanilla. Taste matches the aroma with notes of roasted malts and ends with a dry and hoppy finish. Moderate carbonation. Concealment of high ABV is well done.

Bottle thanks to Onkelgobber. Appearance - opaque black with a nice fluffy fawn head. Nose - toffee and nuts rather than chocolate. Praline. Taste - more of the same with a blackjack liquorice edge that makes it balanced Palate - close to full bodied, big tangy yet dry roasty texture and a long dry finish. Overall -lovely and luscious.

Bottle from Torvenhallerne. Pours nearly black with only a few brown bubbles as head, some lacing though. Nice subtle aroma of mildly roasted hops with caramel, vanilla, some chocolate, brown sugar, vaguely fruity. Can’t find any hops. The taste is very sweet, with just a bit of roasted bitterness. Smooth, creamy palate. Easy to drink, but a bit too straightforward and lacks of character.

Pours a dark brown colour with a frothy-creamy beige head that lasts a while, giving patchy creamy-foam lacing. Big aromas of chocolate and cocoa at first pour. Then, notes of vanilla-oak, toffee, roasted malts and hints of nuts. The flavours are mostly on the roasted malt side, with a little coffee and cocoa. Also some alcohol felt. Pretty good overall, but nothing too complex in the mouth section. A nice sipper.

0.5 bottle. Pitch black color and a huge, creamy, tanned head leaving sparse lacing. Complex aroma of dark malts, roast, coffee, dark fruits, hints of licorice, some wood, and perhaps molasses. Taste is also rich and sweet from dark malts, forest fruits, a lot of roast, dark chocolate, caramel, some herbs, and delicate earthiness. Full body, creamy texture, and flat carbonation. Finish is long, sweet, and velvety soft. Overall the beer is marvelous, a true personification of quality - expensive but highly recommended.
