Editor's note: Voted best new beer 2007 by the Danish Society of Beer Enthusiasts.

English: Imperial Stout is a dark and rich beer with a beautiful dark cream coloured head. It’s brewed from several types of roast malts and conditioned on oak, which adds to the heavy body. The Imperial Stout has a strong and growing aftertaste of coffee, bitter chocolate and vanilla. Suited for game, strong cheeses and chocolate desserts. Or may be enjoyed alone in a cognac snifter in front of the fireplace.

Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, dried fruit, chocolate, oak, light vanilla, some liquorice. Flavour is roasty and sweet, liquorice, with a little bitterness in the aftertaste. Alcohol is hidden well. Smooth and well-balanced.

Bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus. Opaque black color, medium to full sized quickly diminishing light brown head that leaves fair lacing. Smell and taste malts, lightly roasted malts, some iron, moderately bitter, some chocolate, lightly earthy. Decent body, medium carbonation.

Bottle @ benzai. Pitch black colour with a medium sized beige head. Smells liquorice, sweet, roasty, chocolate, liquoricewood. I dislike liquorice in beer. Tastes roasty, chocolate and coffee, but with loads of iron and some liquorice. Medium to full body, soft carbo, slightly silky feel.

Bottle. Quite a dissapointment, this one.. Aroma is dark fruits, vanille, caramel, chocolate, hint of coffee. Taste is way too sweet for me, with hints of roasted malt, chocolate and hops. Not very complex at all and the sweetness ruins the balance. A touch of whiskey in the aftertaste saves this from being completely boring.

Very dark brown, stable tan head. Aroma has licorice and dried fruit. Flavour is similar with smooth alcohol. Nice, soft mouthfeel.

I actually didn’t like this stout. I didn’t like the long bitterness it left i the mouth. Too much hops for an imperial stout too my taste. Not much aroma and dry palate.

Ar: lightly roasted, vanilla, lightly smokey, fruity, alcohol, Ap: transluscent black, almost Brown colour, medium beige head. T: big sweetness, medium bite, overly sweet as most midtfyns beers seem to be. P: thin body considering ABV, soft carbonation, short finish. O: mediocre.
