Editor's note: Voted best new beer 2007 by the Danish Society of Beer Enthusiasts.

English: Imperial Stout is a dark and rich beer with a beautiful dark cream coloured head. It’s brewed from several types of roast malts and conditioned on oak, which adds to the heavy body. The Imperial Stout has a strong and growing aftertaste of coffee, bitter chocolate and vanilla. Suited for game, strong cheeses and chocolate desserts. Or may be enjoyed alone in a cognac snifter in front of the fireplace.

Nose is full of tobacco and toffee, very sweet. Flavor is a big more roasty with more coffee and caramel tones.

Bottle. Black beer, small white moussy head. Aroma of burned malt and cacao. Oily mouthfeel, thick body. Taste of moccha, chocolate and some licorice. Some oak and vanilla in the aftertaste. Solid imperial stout.

Jet black pour, medium beige head. Dark, toasted almost charred malts, dark fruit, currants and some cocoa nibs. Carb is light and the body is a little thinner than i expected. Finish is very bitter with sharp bitter cocoa notes, and a burnt coffee, with hints of woody vanilla finish.

Dark color, full body. Smooth roasted aromas, full taste, coffee aftertaste. Very balanced beer. I liked it a lot.

500 mL Bottle. Dark brown body with a tenacious frothy tan head leaving ribs on the glass. Aroma of toasted malts, prunes, black mission figs, raisins, hints of coffee, cocoa, and vanilla. This is a very heavy bodied high octane beer bursting with flavors of toasted malts, dark dried fruits, bitter cocoa, vanilla, and black coffee. Alcohol declares itself first in the aftertaste thus warning the beer drinker to "go easy", then black coffee, cocoa, and black mission figs team up, and then off to a carob and bitter dark chocolate finish with a "tail" of vanilla. One gorgeous beer! I’ll bring some fine Belgian chocolates next time ;)

Chocolate, coffee, vanilla, oak, dried fruits and roasted malts in the aroma. Almost back with a slight red tint, tan head. Medium to heavy sweet and medium bitter. Full body with a soft carbonation. Overall a nice Imperial Stout that have picked up some nice aromas and flavours from the oak conditioning.

500 mL bottle. Looks like an imperial stout. Smells like an imperial stout. Tastes like an imperial stout. Pretty textbook. A touch less roast than some, perhaps. Aroma is on the mild side. Well constructed.

500 mL bottle. Pours thick, opaque black with a huge off white head of foam that seems to have jello like stability. Laces wonderfully. Coffee, cocoa powder, dark chocolate, oak, vanilla and menthol-herbal earthiness. Full bodied, but much drier than many RIS I have had. Still has some sweetness, but it’s well cut by alcohol, hopping rates and oak. Creamy palate, finishes long and lingering like a good espresso. Nice.

Bottle from the LCBO. Deep brown with a small dark tan head that lingers. Very prominent dark chocolate nose with coffee, vanilla, and light dark fruits. Dry medium bitterness throughout dominated by the chocolate with lots of roast and a light plum tartness and a light sweetness appearing in the finish. A bit of woodiness appears as it warms and smooths things out. Mouth is medium full and creamy with medium carbonation.

The beer pours a solid black colour with a generous rocky and bubbly light brown head. The aroma is roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, and plums. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is dark chocolate, plums, yeast, and roasted malt. A bit on the sweet side for an Impy Stout, but still very enjoyable.
