Voted best new beer 2007 by the Danish Society of Beer Enthusiasts.

English: Imperial Stout is a dark and rich beer with a beautiful dark cream coloured head. It’s brewed from several types of roast malts and conditioned on oak, which adds to the heavy body. The Imperial Stout has a strong and growing aftertaste of coffee, bitter chocolate and vanilla. Suited for game, strong cheeses and chocolate desserts. Or may be enjoyed alone in a cognac snifter in front of the fireplace.

A long-lasting, elegant, homogeneous tan head lives above the clearish dark brown. Not all that close to black in colour, but that does not keep it from proposing a roast-focused aroma playing the dark chocolate and coffee tune accompanied by a confident, forward liquorous alcohol. Call it a coffee liquor if you will. Relatively lean palate for the genre, not without love handles, but far from the syrupy examples that abound nowadays and never overly sugary. Has a spicy kick (anise, woodsy, black pepper) which I have trouble figuring whether it comes from its otherwise subtle hops or some kind of alcohol-phenolic side effect. Not very punchy in terms of hop flavours, yet a very bitter example, for its bitterness hops, of course, but perhaps more especially for its dark espresso-like roasted malts, sharper than in the vast majority of impys out there. A very competent example, perhaps lacking in fruit to fit my very personal preferences for strong roasty ales, but cohesive and flawless.

Strawberry and raspberry aroma with dark rich fruit and tobacco. Slight taste of tequila and rose water. Some cocoa and honey with a nice malts and barley roasted to perfection. Palate is smooth and starts thick, then watery, but finishes with residual sugars. Bottle

Bottle:Very deep amber coloured, still with a ruby sheen, quite stable loose tanned head; sweet toasted malt, dried fruits, molasses and tobacco in the nose; quite solid sweet flavour with a decent bitterness, nearly full bodied and a bit sticky; sweet vinous-coffeeish finish. Too sweet…

Purchased from Vinmonopolet for 80 NOK. A good, solid Danish style imperial stout. Aroma is a welcoming coffee/espresso smell with some hint of milk chocolate. Taste is firstly mild, but builds up creating a semi sweet taste of coffee, chocolate, licorice and dark fruit. Combined they give a nice long lasting taste.

Black pour off white to cream head and light lacing .... Aroma of roasted malts, sweet chocolate, light coffee and some sweet vanilla .... Taste is of Belgian candi sugar, sweet chocolate, roasted malts and some dark fruits .... Sweet and has a lingering candi sugar ... Finished dry and roasted with a lingering sweetness .... Decent for a Danish stout and the Abv is hidden very well
