English: Imperial Stout is a dark and rich beer with a beautiful dark cream coloured head. It’s brewed from several types of roast malts and conditioned on oak, which adds to the heavy body. The Imperial Stout has a strong and growing aftertaste of coffee, bitter chocolate and vanilla. Suited for game, strong cheeses and chocolate desserts. Or may be enjoyed alone in a cognac snifter in front of the fireplace.

A long-lasting, elegant, homogeneous tan head lives above the clearish dark brown. Not all that close to black in colour, but that does not keep it from proposing a roast-focused aroma playing the dark chocolate and coffee tune accompanied by a confident, forward liquorous alcohol. Call it a coffee liquor if you will. Relatively lean palate for the genre, not without love handles, but far from the syrupy examples that abound nowadays and never overly sugary. Has a spicy kick (anise, woodsy, black pepper) which I have trouble figuring whether it comes from its otherwise subtle hops or some kind of alcohol-phenolic side effect. Not very punchy in terms of hop flavours, yet a very bitter example, for its bitterness hops, of course, but perhaps more especially for its dark espresso-like roasted malts, sharper than in the vast majority of impys out there. A very competent example, perhaps lacking in fruit to fit my very personal preferences for strong roasty ales, but cohesive and flawless.

This epic creation defines a perfect Imperial Stout. Its opac black color with its light roasted coffee and nuts smell makes it one of a kind. Its taste is sugary and delightful. Theres is no harsh taste at all. Drink this anytime and anywhere. Cheers!

Gorgeous black beer, with an off-white head that billows up on the pour, but with patience it will settle down into bed for you. The aromas are pure dark chocolate for me and not much else. I call that unadulterated perfection. Fairly thick mouth feel. The tastes capitalize on the dark chocolate, and unlike most stouts of this kind, eschews the bitter coffee route and instead marries a light bourbon type flavour to the dark chocolate. I’ve enjoyed the double IPA from this brewery, but this is an even better beer.

500 mL bottle. Solid black pour, couple fingers of dense tan head. Fairly solid retention. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, some fruit and licorice as well. Taste starts off coffee and chocolate, bitter finish with just a touch of alcohol. Full body, pleasant soft carbonation of larger bubbles.
