COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor's note: Voted best new beer 2007 by the Danish Society of Beer Enthusiasts.

English: Imperial Stout is a dark and rich beer with a beautiful dark cream coloured head. It’s brewed from several types of roast malts and conditioned on oak, which adds to the heavy body. The Imperial Stout has a strong and growing aftertaste of coffee, bitter chocolate and vanilla. Suited for game, strong cheeses and chocolate desserts. Or may be enjoyed alone in a cognac snifter in front of the fireplace.

A long-lasting, elegant, homogeneous tan head lives above the clearish dark brown. Not all that close to black in colour, but that does not keep it from proposing a roast-focused aroma playing the dark chocolate and coffee tune accompanied by a confident, forward liquorous alcohol. Call it a coffee liquor if you will. Relatively lean palate for the genre, not without love handles, but far from the syrupy examples that abound nowadays and never overly sugary. Has a spicy kick (anise, woodsy, black pepper) which I have trouble figuring whether it comes from its otherwise subtle hops or some kind of alcohol-phenolic side effect. Not very punchy in terms of hop flavours, yet a very bitter example, for its bitterness hops, of course, but perhaps more especially for its dark espresso-like roasted malts, sharper than in the vast majority of impys out there. A very competent example, perhaps lacking in fruit to fit my very personal preferences for strong roasty ales, but cohesive and flawless.

Ar: lightly roasted, vanilla, lightly smokey, fruity, alcohol, Ap: transluscent black, almost Brown colour, medium beige head. T: big sweetness, medium bite, overly sweet as most midtfyns beers seem to be. P: thin body considering ABV, soft carbonation, short finish. O: mediocre.

50 cl. 9,5 % . Kulsort øl med meget højt brunt skum. Skøn smag af lakrids. På etiketten er der skrevet med blindskrift også. Flot detalje.

Bottle 50 cl, BBE 03/2015. Pours dark brown in color with a tan head, served in a snifter. Dark fruity sweetness and chocolate in aroma. Mild notes of licorice and bitter chocolate in taste. Really high drinkability, almost a bit too ’easy’ but nonetheless this turns out to be a quite nice imperial stout in the end. Roasted coffee and sweeter chocolate with some vinous and bitter notes in aftertaste.

Bottle at Braukunst Live, black with a dark choc nose, smooth bodied yet with a hoppy bitter bite, notes of pepper and gravy, and a lightly astringent finish.

Bottle. Pours brownish black with small brown falling head. Aroma is vague but has notes of roasted malt, pear/banana yoghurt, mint chocolate and coffee. Taste is initial light acidic then medium sweet and medium bitter and light acidic. Body is creamy with soft sparkling carbonation. Finish is long and medium bitter and sweet with notes of caramel, burnt sugar, grilled meat, brown syrup, fruit yoghurt, gravy, ammonium chloride licorice and mint licorice. Rich and complex!

Flaske fra vinmonopolet. Svart uklar, noe oljete smak. Lavt karbonert. Beigr skumtopp.
