Pours dark orange/copper. White head. Aroma is candy sugar, nuts, fruits, tea and caramel. Flavour is sweet and caramel with notes of fruits. Not your basic IPA. This is sweeter, not so hoppy and almost like a European barley wine.

50cl bottle pours with a slightly hazy deep gold body with copper hues and supporting an off white head of foam. The aroma offers up a different set of hops than I’m used to, which is fine. Smells initially like an aged barleywine. I get malt infused perfume flowers mixed with candied tangerines with just a light dash of mango and lime in the background. The taste delivers floral and citrus and some tropical fruitiness at first where there is an abundance of malt sweetened flavor hops and just a light amount of bittering hops. To midway and into the finish a pleasing, yet light, degree of earthy tea comes to the surface. I’m really starting to dig this stuff. Nice IPA.

Idiosynkrasie (3630) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - AUG 12, 2013
500ml bottle. Clear, reddish glowing amber colour with huge, frothy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Piney hop aroma with a herbal touch, caramel malty basis with a touch of almond. Taste is minimally sweet caramel malty, a touch of almond, marzipan, and toffee, piney hoppy overtones, fruity hints of orange; moderate hoppy, minimally grassy finish. IPA that has its strengths on the malty side.

Benzai (7302) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - AUG 1, 2013
Bottle shared by Joes. Very hazy orange color, medium to full sized, fairly long lasting white head. Smell lightly malts, hops, some old hops and a bit hayish. Taste malts, hops, again some old hops, slightly a hint of fruity sourness, or maybe not fruity sourness but fruitpeel sour-bitter. Can’t really put my finger on it. Weird. Not a bad beer but not a really good IPA either.

Countbeer (4316) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - AUG 1, 2013
Bottle: Thanks to Joes: Served in a snifter: Nice medium sized vast and slowly changing creamy foamy head on top of a hazy yellow orange colored beer. Aromas of hop fruits like, peach, mango, grapefruit, pine, some resin, some resin, some yeast, some malts, cream. Flavour is a crispy mix of hop fruits, mango, peach, exotic fruit, pine, some bitters, light spicy, yeast, hint of creamy malts, flowers and floral tones. Aftertaste is fresh fruity, hops, flowers, bitters, light bitter and light yeasty. Low carbo, medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel which turns a bit more watery after a second and a creamy texture. Decent IPA!

pivnizub (8747) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - JUL 20, 2013
Bottle: Amber coloured, hazy, quite stable off-white foamy head with a little lace, bready and distinctive herbal to piney hoppy nose; moderate to solid bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied; lingering herbal-hoppy finish with bready-toasty flavours. Quite OK, surely not earth-shaking…

Boutip (4654) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 5, 2013
Bottle: Poured a hazy bright yellow color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of citrusy hops is quite dominant with light sweet malt notes. Taste is dominated by citrusy and grapefruit hoppy notes with some non-descript lightly sweet malt backbone. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not the most complex or powerful IPA but well brewed for the style with nice showcasing of c-hops.
