3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Almost black and opague. Creamy aroma with anis and vennel, not too obviously present. Creamy flavor with ash, anis and vennel. Not unpleasant, only the aftertaste is a bit too spicy.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, best before July 2008.
Opaque black, small pale-beige head.
Roasted malts, mocha, dark chocolate aroma. Faint dry hops in background. Hint of cardboard. Some oaky sherry/port/brandy like notes.
Flavor is an interesting combination of dry mocha roasted malts, and oaky brandy/whisky like sweet and smokey notes.
Smoky peat emerges in dryish aftertaste.
Full body, mildish carbonation, smooth, creamy mouthfeell.
Lovely lovely christmas stout, much more complex than I expected.
