3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 rodenbach99 (2548) - Longueuil, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 17, 2013
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 bartlebier (523) - Baden-Württemberg, GERMANY - MAR 13, 2013
15cl sample, from bottle @München Braukunst Live (MBL 09/03/2013). - Pours a gorgeous opaque dark brown, smooth and oily. Rather retained aroma, not overly roasty nor hoppy; deliciously full creamy mouthfeel with some acidic dryness, taste is a bit of everything porter, in good balance: liquorice, mild roasted cocoa, lactic acid. Smooth and pleasing, not unnecessarily experimental, reminded me a bit of a US milk stout.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Idiosynkrasie (1980) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - JAN 13, 2013
500ml bottle. Clear darkest brown to black colour with small to average, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Roasty dark malty aroma. Taste is moderately sweet dark malty with hints of treacle, minimally roasty, minimally metallic, almost with a soapy touch in the finish. Just as many other beers from Midtfyns, nothing wrong with this - rich, flavourful, you feel the quality of the ingredients, the caring handling associated with handcrafted beer - nevertheless the taste doesn’t kill me.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 SlovakSniper (2195) - Candiac, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 11, 2013
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 beerbuzzmontreal (3490) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 2, 2013
Black pour with a medium tan head. Interesting aroma of roasted malt, coacoa and fruits. Very good flavor of roasted malt that feels a bit like coffee and fruits. There’s not much of a bitterness in the end. The body is medium with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. This is a very well-made stout.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 pushkinwow (1371) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 1, 2013
500ml bottle. Black with a brown head. Lots of roasted malt, anise, some coffee, semi-artificial vanilla, sweet chocolate. Mild carbonation, moderate body, sweet and roasted with some bitterness and dryness at the finish.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 MartinT (6934) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 21, 2012
My Bottom Line:
This vanilla-laden Sweet Stout possesses some roasted coffee bean angles to add depth to a prevalent candied fruitiness.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy head of foam dwindles to a veil over the darkest brown.
-Malts also offer toasted edges.
-The prevalent fruitiness is also redolent of licorice.
-Sweet coffee reaches the finish, accompanied by light roasty bitterness.
-The creamy mouthfeel, its smooth richness and soft carbonation accentuate this Stout’s sweet heart.
-Those who like Cigar City’s propensity for dessert flavors would like this a lot.
Bottle.

500ml bottle. Black color with light brown head. Aroma of chocklate and licorice. Flavor is moderate sweet choclate and coffee. Carbonation is medium, makes it more easy-drinking than other stouts. Long aftertaste. Great with a chocklate cake.
