Lithuanian mead Stakliškės is named after the town where the company is located. It is made with natural honey, flavored with hops, lime blossoms, juniper berries and other valued herbs. This drink with little alcohol by volume (12%) is matured by the method of natural fermentation up to 12 months. It is very savory, and goes well with the desserts.

Medium body, syrupy texture, flat carbonation, moderately to heavily alcoholic. Very simple and very syrupy-sweet, but no off notes or genuinely unpleasant aspects. Average.

Natrually enough honey dominated, some floral and fruity notes and hints of herbs. Sweet, with nice herbal honey flavour, warming alcohol and a hint of bitterness. Tasty and desserty.

Bottle courtesy of Kaj (non-RB). Pours clear golden leaving some subtle legs in the glass. Smell is slightly fruity and slightly earthy with dark honey, raisins, figs, dried pine needles, alcohol and lemon peal. Taste is sweet, fruity and earthy. Mouthfeel is viscous, oily, tiny boozy and medium bodied. Finish is sweet and very tiny sour with dark honey, caramel, raisins, figs, dates, dried pine needles, moist soil, alcohol and lemon peal. Solid stuff! I like it!

From the bottle at Aline Leiçiai, Vilnius. Thanks to Fat Phil for availability info. White gold. Clear. Honey, alcohol, wormwood, birch aroma. Sweet with a hint of sour. Gum-numbing on the way down. By far and away the best mead I have ever tasted.

A pale golden pour with no head at all. Sticking my nose into this one reminds me of a single malt whisky. Moore honey and some spices in the aroma after a while. Thick nice and oily texture. Sweet, but not cloying. Ice wine-ish flavor. Fruity, honey, some spices and some wood. Nice tasty dessert mead.

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2015 500ml glass bottle (Maxima, Vilnius) (7:4:7:4:15=3.7)
Lovely meady aroma in the Polish style, lots of honey, Citrussy sharpness. Nice meady taste too, again the citrus, but really floral too. Not too sweet thanks to the citric acid, a good after-meal sipper. Very nice dwojniak.
Rerate of: 500ml bottle (Lieciai, Vilnius) (7:3:8:4:16+=3.8+)
Beautiful floral honey aroma. Beautiful sharpness in the taste too. Palate so light, not sticky at all. Takes any polish trojniak on head-to-head. So much honey, but so light. Stunning mead. I want a bottle! (and thanks to the bar staff I found out where to get one, see above!)
