Comments: This CAMRA’s 2007 beer of the year is a citrusy, flowery well balanced and crisp golden ale. Very mineral example, but pleasant and drinkable.
Doppelganger (1353), Dry County, Arkansas, USA Sep 15, 2007 Gravity, Masons Arm, Oxford. Shiny pale copper, smallish white skim of bubbles. Corn pollen aroma, a bit of honey. Candy hops, a bright but sticky malt character, a little biscuit finish. Palatable, but rather sweet for my taste, and not one of Mighty Oak’s best efforts. Svesse (2597), Hässelby, Sweden Sep 9, 2007 (Cask at GBBF, London, 9 Aug 2007) Golden yellow colour with green tinges, brief white head. Fruity nose with lemon peel, spicy notes of grassy hops and biscuity malt aromas. Fruity taste with notes of lemon, grapefruit and grassy hops in the finish. Underlying biscuity malt character. Balanced and very fresh. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Sep 5, 2007 Cask @ GBBF 2007, London. Clear medium yellow color with a small, virtually none, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, biscuity, moderate hoppy, citrus. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a short to average duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is flat. oh6gdx (8795), Vasa, Finland Aug 28, 2007 Cask@GBBF2007. Yellowish golden colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is honey, wood, fruity hops and some salty hints. Flavour is quite the same, but has a big bitterness kicking into it. ChristianScheffel (4431), Odense, Denmark Aug 26, 2007 Golden with a small white head. Grass, some citrus and grain in the aroma. Dry and lightly bitter flavour. joe19612 (673), camberley, Surrey, England Aug 13, 2007 Cask at GBBF 2007. Poured a clear yellow colour with a thick white head. Fruity hoppy floral aroma. Fruity, malty and slightly bitter flavor. Hoppy bitter aftertaste. A very well made beer.
