275 ml bottle from lcbo A: earthy, citrusy, caramel, just a touch of roastiness in the finish. App: clear dark copper with small white head. T/p: Med body finish is of medium long duration. moderate carbonation. O: A little too heavy on specialty malts even for an English Ipa. Not bitter enough close to balance

dfearnley (1155) - Alberta, CANADA - JUL 26, 2012
275mL bottle wine glass Piney and grapefruit aromas with a little apricot and alcohol. It's a clear deep amber with a small head but nice lacing. Taste is surpisingly fruity and tangy up front and with a malty and hoppy end. Being an IPA, the hops win out to a pleasant astringent bitterness.

Great taste, and a smoother finish than other stronger IPAs. Very highly recommended!!

UPDATED: NOV 11, 2014 Can. Re rating this. Sweet dark caramel with very little hop character. When I first had this the hops were more prevalent, the body less sweet. I liked it then, but no longer.

Bouteille 275 ml. 6.2%. Couleur ambrée foncée, brune, mousse beige pâle. Arôme de caramel, cassonade, herbes. En bouche, malt caramel, sucre d’orge, un peu de houblon. Faible comme IPA, ressemble plus à une Pale Ale anglaise.

Draught, Caplansky’s. Golden-brown with a thick head. Earthy and lightly fruity aroma. Lots of malts here, too. Earthy, caramelly flavours with light toast. Decent bitterness (~45 IBUs?) but not expressive enough for an IPA. I like the beer, though. It’s well-balanced, earthy, and a good pale ale.

Draft at caplanskys. Dark copper. Nice head. Aroma balances fresh wort, medium roast, and mellow brisk but earthy hops. The palate is fairly light and juicy. Excellent malt character marries well with the hops. This is no IPA but its balanced and delicious. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

275 mL bottle. Pours mahogany with an off white head. Sweet, resinous aromas of pine, lanolin and citrus flowers. Lightly caramelized malts and grapefruit. Not overly sweet or overly hopped. Drier on the palate, easy to drink. Liked this one, too bad the bottles are so small!

Bottle. Mahogany with a creamy tan head. LIght fruit, resin hops with a nice malt backbone, nicely balanced, somewhat muted and light caramel. Slightly bitter, smooth, moderate carbonation and mild body, ends with a nice fruity bitterness and a light dryness on the palate. Quite pleasant.
