*Beer Review* Duggan’s 9 IPA Clear light brown pour with a quickly fading head. Smells like an IPA, lots of hops. Rather nice brew. Easy to drink for an IPA. It’s got that grapefruit like bitterness but it comes on quick and fades faster. There’s just a hint of it in the late aftertaste. A bit bready and sweet in the finish. Not bad at all for a style I generally don’t like.

Caramel and molasses in the nose. Pours a clear, brown ale with a slight head that disappears quickly. Not TooMuch carbonation. Toasty, smokey flavors hit the palette first with good balance. Sourness comes through the middle with a smooth bitter end. Very well balanced leaving a good after taste Overall - pretty good. Very drinkable and has enough going on to keep me interested. A slightly dilute taste. Wish it were a tad bolder. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

275 ml bottle (275...weird) @ D'Arcy McGee's Ottawa. Pours a clear amber with a large off-white head. Aroma is crisp citrusy hop and bready dough. Taste brings a little bit of malt up front but is quickly replaced by a fairly gentle dry hoppy bite. Slightly astringent medium finish. Not very complex, very unremarkable IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

275 ml bottle purchased at the LCBO on Rideau and King Edward (Ottawa) on January 5, 2013. Honey copper, little head. Green grass hopped aroma, a little dry. The taste is similar, but with hints of medicine herb, aspirin bitterness. It’s like drinking a bottle of aspirin!

Sweet malty aroma mixed with earthy/floaral hops. Not much citrus or pine on the nose. Dark brown to match with the nose, clear. Taste has minimal bitterness, earthy/piney hops upfront and malt sweetness. Finishes a bit watery, light carbonation. Interesting but watery IPA.

On tap at C’est What? Pours a clear dark orange with a thick white head. Aroma of grapefruit, tropical fruit, overall just lots of fruit. Flavor is also super fruity up front (but more sugary fruit vs. fruit juice) with caramel malt. A bit too sweet for me. It’s not very hoppy either, an unusual IPA. It just wasn’t for me. 7/4/6/3/14 [3.4/5]

Pours a deep copper with a huge four-finger head of pillowy off-white foam. Immediate and strong aroma of earth and yeast. Additional nose of sweet roasted and caramel malts. Very fine carbonation is paired with an immediate hit of hoppy, piney bitterness over the tongue. A second taste reveals more bitterness, slightly astringent, and some malt. Not overly floral or citrusy to my palate. Somewhat lingering and slightly astringent aftertaste finish things off.

Amber color, small head. Light aroma of caramel. Some caramel flavor, the hopping is partially resiny; it seems to be unfresh.
