tytoanderso (1148), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA Apr 28, 2008 Holy shit. This is insane. Incredibly hot, acrid and acidic. Aroma of shoe polish on leather. Deep, dark, charred, acrid malt. Fusel alcohol, diesel fuel, asphalt and insanely charred coffee. Pours a surprisingly thin charcoal/brown with a dense but quickly disappearing khaki head. Flavor is loaded with bitter, acrid, charred espresso. Ashy. Marlboro. Grain alcohol soaked dark chocolate. Tarry. Chewing on hot asphalt. Acid. Burned anise. An absolute trainwreck. Bracing in its acidity. Heartburn in a bottle. Big, sticky, hot, cloying, acidic, acrid, charred body...ugh. The godawful tarry finish lasts forever. Paired perfectly with an unfiltered Lucky Strike.
pivnizub (3501), Porúří, Germany Jul 6, 2008 Bottle (@ RBESG 2008): Pours pitch-black with a stable, brownish head; liquorice, dark malt, sherry, dried fruit and leather in the nose; full sweet-bitter flavour, full bodied; lingering, warming, first sweet, later bitter finish with traces of leather and coffee. Very good, but very sweet, indeed...... Magic_dave6 (3476), Glasgow, Scotland Jul 4, 2008 Bottle thanks to cgarvieuk at the pre-plzen knees up. Alround rating: Wow, honey, floural nose, a black mead for sure, very sweet indeed, burnt finish ruins it but would be an excellent non honey mead. faroeviking (3911), Faroese Beer Republic above, Denmark Jun 28, 2008 Botella. Rating # 3900. Poured in a big cognac glass. Pitch black colour with a huge dark brown creamy long lasting head leaving a great sticky lacing. The aroma os bustling with heavy roasted malt and alcohol along with chocolate, dark sweet fruits and coffee. Great filling mouthfeel. The flavour has plenty of roasted malt, lots of alcohol, bitter chocolate, lots of dark fruits, well roasted coffee, some liquorice and bitter hops. Too much alcohol in the flavour. Should have a few years in a cellar before drinking. Bragesnak (942), Aarhus, Denmark Jun 27, 2008 From LIC, Aarhus, DK.

Black with a brownish head. Aroma is vinous. Flavor is long lasting of malt - incl. roasted barley - caramel, chocolate, liqourice and hop bitterness. thedm (3405), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Jun 26, 2008 This corked and caged bottled brew from Indianapolis, IN poured a medium sized head of fine to medium sized very dark brown colored long lasting bubbles that left behind an opaque black colored body with no visible carbonation and a most excellent lacing. The aroma was of vinous whiskey and dark malts. The mouth feel was thick vinous tingly and mildly burning from start to finish. The flavor was extremely yummy with thick dark malt brown malt and whiskey notes.
