Jet black colour, dissipating tan head. Malty aroma, coffee, caramel, cacao, alcohol, bourbon. Sweet alcoholic flavour, malts, caramel, coffee, loads of alcohol. Thick, viscous body. Alcoholic finish, coffee, caramel, sweet bourbon. Much reminding of bourbon, this beer.

3/II/15 - 33cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker) @ home - BB: 31/X/23 (2015-130) Thanks to Erwin for sharing the bottle!

Black thick beer, the most viscose beer I’ve ever seen, except for that wallpaper glue Pissenlit from Fantôme. :p Aroma: sweet, caramel, lots of chocolate, mocha, chocolate milk. MF: very light carbon, very thick and syrupy texture, yet not cloying, full body. Taste: sweet and sugary start, pretty bitter, cocoa powder, some coffee, lots and lots of cacao powder, some caramel, alcohol. Aftertaste: very sweet, sguary, alcohol, dark chocolate, quite an alcohol burn, bitter hops and coffee grit. Very intense.

0.33 bottle. Pitch black with no head. A marvelous and rich aroma of dark, toasted malts; smoke; delicate meat; a hint of shrimps; a touch of licorice; and some spicy sauce - the only blemish is a soft smell of alcohol. Taste is very heavy and dominated by dark malts, then along come charred wood, heavy roast, toast, and hints of smoke; finally all of that is joined by delicate dark fruits, slightly salty licorice, and rich chocolate. Full body; thick, heavy texture; and a very soft carbonation. Finish is even better and richer with more fruity sweetness and an even finer balance. Overall a god among beers, everything about it corresponds to my idea of a perfect imperial stout - black like tar, thick like a soup, strong like a boxer’s punch, passionate and full of character like a Hitler’s speech.

Bottle from Kihoskh, Copenhagen. Pours black with a small head. Roast, sugars, chocolate, booze and charcoal. Oily and slick. Gladfully the weakest beer og the 3 - Black - is mellowed out by the other 2 sublime beers.

Klimaet (397) - Aarhus N, DENMARK - DEC 29, 2014
Bottle. Pours pitch black with a minimal dark brown head. First off it’s just very dark bubbles, but a slight head forms after some time. Aromas of licorice, ash, tobacco, coffee beans, very dark bitter chocolate, slightly salty maybe? Taste is pretty ashy and licorice-like, but has some very deep dark roasted notes, rich chocolate, fruity coffee, oaky and has some soy to it aswell. Not much alcohol to taste but the 16% do come through at some point.

33cl bottle shared Apperaance: Pours black with a brown slightly larger then a ring as head. Quite viscous Aroma: liquorice, Laurate Nobilis, soy, roasted malt, cocoa, a hint of coffee, sweet molasses (Quite huge and the nice thing is how the aroma changes when heated up further or more air gets to it. Quite complex so while at first it seems there is only a massive liquorice aroma being there. Taste is dark following the aroma: heavy sweet and moderate bitterness, like the arom quite complex and again the first impression is Liquorice, with a hint of soy with roasted malts, much more is going on. Nice complexity, Alcohol is very well hidden, but the powerfull taste, complexity and full body make it a clear sipper. Full body, soft carbonation Great complex brew. This blend of 3. From the individuals I only had Tokyo* so far and this one was better. Let’s see how the other 2 Black Tokyo Horizon’s will do. Hard to describe what’s so nice since the multiple layers it has. And while pricey ,clearly worth to try once in my humble opinion.
