(Bottle) Pours cloudy brown with some red hints. Off-white head. The aroma is hoppy with tones of wet wood, black currant leaves, canned pineapples/peach, sweet pink grapefruit and resin. Undertones of summer rain and a light wet dog-like oxidation. Malt brings caramel, cookies and wet bread. The flavour is light to medium sweet, near heavily bitter and near medium acidic. Tones of resin, sour berries, citrus/grapefruit and spicy wood alongside a robust malt profile. The mouthfeel is sticky both from the hops and malt with a light carbonation. Aggressive hop bitterness lingers. Medium bodied.

Pours a cloudy amber/brown with a small tan head and plenty of lacing. The aroma has some floral notes and plenty of resin. The flavor has a spicy hop profile with enough malt to keep the hops from being too strong. It has a sweet finish with a syrupy body. A very interesting IIPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Forget the 1000 IBU moniker; this DIPA is all that and a can of hopjuice. Pop the cap and you are met with a roaring onslaught of deep resin, mint and high alpha goodness. Pours a tawny light brown with a thick frothy ran head replete with scads of sticky lacing smattered across my goblet. The best thing about 1000 is that it is not a one trick pony. This brew has an inpeccable rich chewy caramel malty backbone. While not balanced at all, the malty keeps the spicy tingling hop assault from running off the scale. Long earthy bitter finish and some chest warming finishes things up.

Overall a let down considering the bottle label. Pours hazy dark brown, two finger off white tan head with considerable staying power. Muted citrus on both aroma and flavor, basically a typical IIPA, although very smooth. The part that gets me about this beer is the 1000 IBU part, after buying the beer I looked it up and the brewery states this beer has a theoretical 1000 IBU, and they claim they never stated it has 1000 IBU. I care to differ. If you look at the label, the name of the beer is 1000IBU, ok cool, but then look at the small print where is says alcohol and IBU again. It says alcohol: 9.6% and IBU: 1000. The name of the beer is different than the statistics of it, if you put in the statistics that it has 1000 IBU, it better have 1000 IBU, not theoretical. Overall, this beer cost way to much considering it was a generic IIPA. ($14 for 12.7 oz).

375ml bottle pours a hazy orangeish brown color with 2 fingers of light tan head that retains well and leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is citrus and floral hops and caramel malts. Taste is a bold malty sweetness balanced nicely with citrus hop bitterness. Medium to heavy body with light carbonation. Nicely balanced and quite tasty.

(Rating #4135)

Out the bottle. Pours murky dark orange ,almost brown, with big off white head. Wonderful sweet, citrus, grassy aroma. Huge amount of hops. Flavors of grapefruit & honey balanced nicely by an extremely bitter finish. I love Mikkeller.

375 ml wrapped bottle into tulip glass, no bottling date. Pours super hazy dark reddish brown color with a nice 1-2 finger dense kahki head with great retention that reduces to a thick cap. Some decent lacing on the glass. Aromas of huge grapefruit, pine, caramel, orange, herbal spiciness, biscuit, a bit of tropical fruit, and a touch of alcohol. Nice and well balanced aromas. Taste of big grapefruit, orange, pine, caramel, herbal, floral, biscuit, and light tropical fruit. Fairly intense, yet smooth bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, citrus, pine, biscuit, and herbal spiciness for a while. Great balance of bitterness and flavor here; making this "1000" IBUs very easy to sip on. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very creamy, slick, and sticky mouthfeel. Very smooth to drink at 9.6%, but is still a sipper. Alcohol is well hidden with only a warming after the finish. Overall this is a very excellent DIPA offering from Mikkeller, despite the 1000 IBU gimmick. Big citrus hop flavors with great balance. Really enjoyed this one.

aroma, stong flora hops, medium amber hue white lacing head, taste, Flora hop front bitter backend, overall, was alittle let down not as bitter or hoppy as I would have thought, their 1000 Btu’s is a play on words, as this cant be more than 100, ok would not buy again for the price!

Bottle. A dark murky orange brown color with a lush tan head. A big fruity and hoppy aroma with intense bitterness. A sweet, syrupy and hop filled flavor.
