Figured this one would be too overwhelming but it isnít. Stong resin hop aroma and notes of spruce. Very cloudy with short lived head. Taste is a hop lovers dream and hop citrus hop flavors touch every part of your tongue.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus. Hazy reddish color, full sized dense beige head that lasts forever it seems. Aroma is malts, hops, decently fruity. Taste malts, hops, very bitter. Lingering bitterness. Well, I expected a totally unbalanced extremely bitter beer, but itís actually quite good. IF you like bitter beers of course.

Bottle @ home. Hazy dark amber to ruby colour with a medium to full sized off-white head. Smells hops, grassy, marijuana, fresh, slightly floral and very fruity. Amazing smell! Tastes bitter, hops, fresh, grapefruit. I love these kind of beers. Medium to full body, nice carbo.

Aroma is, err , hops! Murky orange pour, with a fluffy, off white head. The 9.6 abv is obviously going to give some sweetness, but then comes the charge of the hop brigade! Itís similar to the afterburn of a good chilli, the hop bitterness keeps growing, for minutes after the beer has hit your throat. amazing stuff, but definitely not for everyone .

This year's offering is rich and bitter like last year's, but it is more enjoyable and easy to drink. Rich copper in color with a foamy yellow head, this resiny DIPA is thick and full bodied.

With IPAs, I find itís all about the appearance. Thatís all you need to know according to this guy I know Craig (or if your French, Greg...wait Craig... Wait Gregg...fuck it, itís the same name). In a green bottle with a mysterious criminal looking fellow stuck behind bars, left with his lone ranger eye mask one and his black cowboy hat. A small hop cone hides in bottom left corner. The yellow and green play nice with each other. It pours a nice orangish amber with a thin off white head, nice lacing. Small bubbles float on the thin fluff without popping. A beautiful picture of what a double IPA should look like. Now that I look a little closer, is that a 3 Musketeer hat?

12.7oz bottle thanks to the up and up AndyReynolds - there was a leaf stuck under my glass. Label is pretty color wise but the mention of IPA as opposed to IBU is perplexing. Intentional? Why would a prison theme label compell people to buy the product? Why is that little feller in there with raccoon eyes? The hop comb in the bottom left is there to suggest hoppiness. Hop combs in prison, now that is just silly.

Bottle at home, from BD Online, 01/07/14. Murky amber brown with a big old egg shell white/light beige head. Nose is piss stained nettles, ear wax, pine, bitter bitter citric peel, tarte red grapefruit, caramel backnotes, blood orange. Taste comprises some big fucking bitter lickings, intense pine flavours, red grapefruit and gin, sprucey wood shavings, Schweppes bitter lemon, Angostura bitters, orange pithtastic. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, big hop bitter licks in the close. Had this on tap a few years back, pre rating days ... in fact I started ticking Mikkeller beers in 2011 for shits & giggles and got to 100+ - I digress, and remembered enjoying this one. The intense bitterness in this one, if thatís your bag, really keeps it drinkable and refreshing and masks the ABV. Above decent uber hopped DIPA.

Poured from bottle into snifter. Dark orange, almost brown in color. Nice, off-white head. Scent and taste are just what you would expect: all hops. It is crazy bitter, and it lingers for a while. Somehow avoided skunking, even in a green bottle (or maybe its just so bitter I canít tell). Gets a little malty as it gets warmer, but not much. Overall, not bad. Definitely a unique/ interesting beer, glad I could try it. Side note: my bottle says "1000 IPA", which is kind of odd.

Great big pine intrusively bitter nose. Super easy big dense rockycreamy block of head. Hazy reddish brown colour. Some fizz& acidity to start before all the oenetrating tingly brutal bitterness comes into force. And fantastic delicate and complex lacing.

Bottle, purchased to celebrate my 1000th rating. Thick cloudy amber with some chunks in it. Grassy and citrus aroma with some malty sweetness. Starts off with caramel malty sweetness. Moves into - big surprise - massive bitterness that grows and grows. The bitterness is intense, but its actually pretty enjoyable. Thick body. An experience for sure.
