I’m excited and scared to try this. I’ve heard great things about mikkeller, but so far I’m 0/2 with trying their beers. Pours hazy dark copper with big fluffy cream-colored head. Big aroma of a good IPA: grapefruit, pine, and hint of caramel. Nice full mouthfeel, a touch on the chewy side. Great flavor that starts with a woody and citrussy bitterness on the tip of the tongue, grapefruit aroma is replaced with a orange peel and ripe sweet orange, piney, a bit of caramel and a lot of white bread. Just a bit of pepper from the alcohol, but not at all hot or boozy. Finishes with a great hop bitterness that balances the beer well. I expected something over the top, unpleasant, and puckering based on the name and the last beers that I tasted from Mikkeller, but this is a very nice finish. There’s also just a touch of malty sweetness to accompany the bitterness in the end. Leaves a dirty bitterness - like apple peel-for the aftertaste.

Bottle, BBE 28/09/17. Appearance- hazy amber, a large, thick off-white head which leaves loads of lacing. Aroma- caramel, raisin, hops, booze, fruitcake, boozy fruit. Taste- hop resin, orange peel, pineapple hints, bitter fruit juice, rhubarb, toasty malt backbone, caramel and sweet malts, marmalade, alcohol, very long and very bitter finish. Mouthfeel a bit sticky. Definitely a sipper.

Deep amber color, big tan staying head with lots of lacing. Aroma of sugar, malt, red fruits, caramel, grapefruit. Its not really fresh so hops started to fade away I guess. Taste gets quite bitter after few sips, notes of grapefruit, strong maltiness, caramel, mango and aftertaste is like I just ate 2 kg of fresh grapefruits. Its insane, really. I wish I had it fresh.

Bottle 0,33l from Saveur Biere web shop. Hazy amber liquid with gigantic off white head. Fruity, grapefruit, some alcohol, sweet, very bitter but not as much I thought.

1000 IBU z browaru Mikkeller. Wasze zdrowie :)

Not especially pleasant but then again this really isn't the point of this beer. Malt and alcohol take a supporting role to tongue pickling levels of hops. Aroma is unsurprisingly massive and the drying hop bitterness goes on for ever. An experience but certainly not one I would revisit. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

bottle. Deep amber with small head. Not nearly as bitter as I expected for 1000 IBUs. There’s a solid caramel malt body with mild sweetness. The body balances against the hop bitterness very well.

0,33l bottle at home. Aroma has mango, grapefruit and tropical fruits in general, some pine, caramel. Malty and hoppy aroma. Taste is quite strong and full bodied, the hoppiness is backed up with a big malty body, but still strikes pretty hard, not very smooth. Doesn’t get boozy though.

Surprisingly sweet carmelized sugar aroma that is boozy and has some dank earthy hops although not nearly as much as I was expecting. Dark amber color; possibly the darkest DIPA that I have ever seen. Very nice looking but the giant pillow of foam brings it down to a 4. Taste is bitter and very hoppy up front; the hops are strong but not all that complex. Some sweetness for balance, but this was left bitter on purpose. Grapefruit rind aftertaste. Average palate which is a little on the thin side. This delivers what it promises, but overall it is not that good of a beer. Mikkeller can do a lot better than this.

Smell of interesting yeast esters and hops, mainly the yeast though, damn nice smell. Taste was everything and more but not in a good way. Some fruits, bovril and gravy, like a meal. Fairly bitter but so sweet that they battle for supremacy. Willy wonka gobstopper Beer.
