37.5 cL bottle. Pours pitch black, oily and with a dense, creamy and dark chocolate brown head - slowly collapsing into bigger bubbles. Aroma is dark malty, rather fruity and sweet. Flavour has a nice mix of dark malt, quite sweet and a more subtle winous to fruity note. Lingering smooth finish. Overall rather sweet, but somehow nicely integrated with the malt and fruity notes.

Bottled. A black beer with a huge brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, cognac, and chocolate. The flavor is sweet with notes of cognac, alcohol, wood, and caramel, leading to a very sweet and alcoholic finish.

Bottle 37,5 cl. Courtesy of Pinball. Pours a pitch black with a dense light brown head with good retention and quite some lacework. Heavy sweet roast, lots of booze and vanilla with distinct Cognac. Very solid body, thick and syrupy roast and dark dried fruits - again lots of Cognac. Heavy roast in the finish but still lots of booze. The Cognac barrel really adds to this. 230311

Bottle, shared my Meilby. It pours a pitch black body and a finger-thick brown head with medium longevity. The aroma has a big influence from the booze, a whiff of cognac reaches my nose immediately after opening the bottle. Roasted malts, licorice, molasses, a note of cellar and something at first leading my thoughts to bakers yeast but it’s definitely not that. And of course there’s a certain amount of alcohol too. It’s super smooth and velvety on the palate, quite warming and with the amount of co2 required by a beer at this strength. There’s a little bitterness in the flavor, but dark sugar, molasses and alcohol dominates. A little touch of roasted malts blends in. The finish is of the ever lasting kind, boozy, sweet and roasted, with a warming sensation too. Overall, an over-the-top beer that goes well as a sipper, but it’s a good idea to share a bottle with a good (beer loving) friend or two. Certainly not for youth looking to get drunk cheap or the guys on the benches in the park. I prefer the regular edition to this one. 110330
