Almost black in colour. Bicycle tyre glue in aroma, that mellows as it airs. Sweet and strong taste with some port. A bit woody. Wonderfully complex aftertaste.

Bottle shared with BBGTC. Pours a black body producing a small head. Aroma of alcohol, roasted malts and a cloying sweetness. Himts of leather and ash. Taste is sweet and peated. Loads of warming alcohol, roast and peat. Alot better than the original. Body is medium, very soft co2 levels. Lingering sweetness and smokey peat.

Bottle thanks to Alen - 2011 vintage. Pours inky black, small tan to brown head, dissipates fairly quickly with some lacing. Aroma is hugely peaty, scotch whiskey, some roasted malt. Flavor is much the same, quite sweet and light bitter, hugely peaty and smoky, lots and lots of scotch influence here. Medium body. Avoids being meaty. You gotta like scotch, but if you do, this is pretty decent.

"this one is a little much. even when they did the black hole (black hole being far more drinkable than black) they overdid the scotch. they’re at it again woth this one, and at 17% the charred stout and intense smoke = low drinkability. i’d enjoy a sampler of this, but not a bottle. a good idea taken to the extreme. for mikkeller, this one’s a miss."

Bottle, shared with BBGTC. Pours a tar black body with a tiny beige head. Nose is dark chocolate, alcohol, coffee, wood, whisky, smoke, peat and hints of brown sugar and dark syrup. Taste is coffee, alcohol, chocolate, brown sugar, syrup, peat, smoke, wood, whisky and hints of toffee and white sugar. Full, oily body, medium to soft carbonation. The BA versions of this beer are so much better than the regular version, and this is no exception. Nice, but not outstanding and I still prefer the more moderate Black Hole series.

UPDATED: AUG 25, 2014 kolsvart med litet skum. Doftar lite rökig whiskey och ganska söt. Väldigt söt i smaken och whiskey! Sötvört på fat, är den verkligen 17.5?

375mL bottle, BB 2/25/20. Poured inky black with no appreciable head sticking around. The aroma opened with burnt licorice and peated-up rocket fuel, but thankfully it settled down... it eventually became a sweet, warm (but not exceedingly hot), very nice Islay whiskey over soft and supportive burnt licorice and lesser soy malts.. it really grew on me. The flavor found burnt black and licorice malts at the core, with a syrupy, alcohol-infused trail all the way through the finish.. smokey whiskey hit every facet of the drink as well.. rising oxidation on the back and through the finish as it warmed.. lots of residual sweetness and wisps of smokey whiskey on the long, belly-warming finish. Heavy-bodied with low carbonation.. the barrel imparted some very favorable impressions, but overall the beer wasn’t quite cohesive.

Bottle. Creamy off-white fair mostly deminishing head. Black colour. Moderate malty and hoppy aroma. Some islay notes. Heavy bitter wondefull flavor. Islay not dominating but nicely present. Long intende fniish. Creamy palate. Very complex beer.
