375ml bottle at home. Dark brown/black with a small off-white head. Full body with light carbonation. Alcoholic sweetness with some bitter and sour tones. Coffee, chocolate, alcohol, roasted malts, caramel, wood, vanilla and licorice. An alcoholic coffee bomb!

Bottle. Almost no head. Dark brown colour (not black). Much alcohol in aroma, also some tequilla hints. Taste: coffee liqueur with notes of tequilla and some whisky. Unfortunatelly aging gave this beer to much sourness, which doesn’t work so good here. Medium body, it should be more oily texture for me. Worse than the basic Black.

Not a big fan of black. This one is kind of special. Tequilla barrell gives it this sour contra to bitter sweet coffe havy flavours. Lots of nuts, chocolate, coffee. Whisky barrel gives it some saltyness. Texture really oily. Full body. The high alcohol level makes it a bit hard to drink though.

Pours clear auburn w. lasting small head. Aroma is very malty with roasted malt, lots of ripe dark fruit, rye’ish, booze, vinous, licorice, peat and oak. Taste is heavy sweet and bitter. Body is full, texture is thick, carbonation is soft. Finishes roasted and very warming with tequila notes.

UPDATED: MAY 11, 2014 Shared bottle with 2 other friends. Poured a slight murky Black colour with a non lasting head. The alcohol and tequila takes over the flavours of this one, some dark malts, chocolate, ash, sweet caramel, earth. This one is to much and not Nice anymore. Have had other Black versions and they were all Way better as this one

37.5cl bottle courtesy of sebletitje! Thanks. It pours with a clear deep mahogany colored body that supports a light tan head. The aroma offers up caramel, dark roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, boozy hot barrel notes and peat that has an earthy slightly smoky sort of barrel sensation to it. The taste delivers similar notes such as caramel, dark roasted malts, some burnt malts and then boozy barrel notes. To midway the barrel character starts to shine with tequila barrel tartness, mild earthy peated whiskey and surprisingly restrained booziness for such a big beer. Into the finish a pleasing chocolate note comes out of nowhere to help pull this thing together. Great sipper.

On tap @ Les Fleurs du Malt (Lyon). Black with a small persistent beige head and some lacing. Aroma is boozy (of course) with roasted malt and green peppers. Taste is of alcohol (boozy), malt sweetness (though it’s mostly hidden by alcohol), roasted malt, green peppers, light bitterness and a burning finish. Full bodied. Low carbonation. It’s not awful and, in some ways, in tasty. But it’s not actually fun to drink. Too boozy. Nothing stands out. Still a decent sipper.

Bottle thanks to Rainer. Pours a cloudy brown with beige head that leaves spotty lacing. The aroma is peat, smoke, and oak. Medium mouthfeel with strong peat, booze, smoke, and alcohol burn. Good.
