37.5cl bottle, served in Duvel cup. Pours deep dark brown with a clear beige head. Aroma is incredibly woody, with hints of coffee grains, chocolate and vanilla. Very nice. The flavour is pretty similar: lots of whisky and tequila notes in both mouth and palate (warm), and then the aforementioned touch of coffee, chocolate, and vanilla. Maybe the tequila is more evident than the whisky. Some alcohol presence, but not much considering it’s 18.8%. Full body, good carbonation. Impressive, not for beginers. A really strong Imperial Stout.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Countbeer (2853) - Best of Eindhoven ohne Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - APR 30, 2013
Bottle:
Dark orange to brown colored pour.
Small to medium sized, vast with some airy bubbles mixed through, creamy tan foamy head/lacing on top of a deep dark brown to blackish colored beer.
Aroma has a dominatin tone of thick sticky liquorice and hints of grapes, alcohol, berries, spices, sweets like sticky brown sugars and sticky thick syrupy molasses, light roast and ash, chalk, caramel, light chocolate and toffee some dust.
Flavours of spices, earth, liquorice, malts, sweets, pepper, warmth, malty, molasses, bitter, liquorice wood, roast/burn, wood, cinnamon, chalk, hint of fruits and some spicy malty bitters that are close to nasty bitter.
Quite complex but that bitterness is a pity.
Aftertaste is spicy, liquor and liquorice, malty and a lightly nasty bitterness.
Low carbo, soft creamy and spicy mouthfeel, full body and a creamy texture.
I am not sure whether this is a good beer or that this is just a crazy attempt of creating something out of a mess.
3.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 adamjackson (1230) - Lyme, New Hampshire, USA - APR 18, 2013
Bottle, acquired in Denmark via MIkkeller Webshop (Thanks Theis for the tip!!!). Enjoyed at fridge temp in a stemware. Poured a dark porter color out of the bottle. In the glass, like a baltic porter, 1 finger head that sticks around. Nose is gigantic like sticking my head right into a scotch barrel laced with chocolate. Tequila takes a backseat to the sweet speyside nose. WHOA. crap, I just realized something. this is an 18.8% beer. Holy mother of God why did I open this right after getting off work?!?!?
Um, well, tons of peat and smokiness, insane booziness even after the finish it has this burning bourbon taste that is stubbornly sticking around. I get a hint of vanilla bean, some walnuts and cinnamon. very spicy and herbal, no sweetness at all. Chocolate up front...but honestly, nothing else matters, I’m drinking a 19% beer at home on a Thursday afternoon by myself. This will not end well, I’m an idiot.
For the ABV, it’s actually a great beer. Just a LOT of beer for one guy.

Bottle shared from Denk. Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of caramel, wood, some spice, alcohol, roasted malt. Flavour is heavy sweet and light bitter. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation. Pretty nice, but just too strong.

Sampled from bottle thanks to dEnk. Opaque pitch black color, small beige head. Smell and mostly taste malts, roastyness, a lot of alcohol, wood, spicy. On the one hand it’s wow, on the other hand it’s ash, dirt, oil, pure alcohol. Puts you off and attracks at the same time.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jmgreenuk (1288) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - APR 12, 2013
Bottle at the John=Jim Den Haag tasting, Den Haag. Poured a dark mahogany with a thin broken tan head. The aroma is rich and alcoholic leading to a huge alcoholic bitter flavour that really dominated the beer which wasn’t good. The alcohol totally defined this beer. I would not go out of my way to taste this again.

Really? 18,8 %? Mikkeler managed to make this a very drinkable beer. Very sweet taste, caramel, chocolate, coffee, it’s all there. Leaves an alcohol after taste, but it’s never mesmerizing.
