Doodler (312) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 6, 2011
Bottle #2 at Bills big vertical tasting. Pours a deep pitch brown. Nice tan head. Whiskey and slightly smoky aroma. Thick and chewy. Flavors of vanilla, wood, licorice and chocolate. Notes of alcohol and malts on the finish. Not too sweet. Great beer, though not as nice as the Islay. Still, a top brew from Mikkeller.

(bottle - 375 ml) Dark black pour with no head or carbonation. Heavy roasted malt, dark fruit, wine and whiskey aroma. Very complex flavor. Lots of fruits, roasted malts, coffee, oak and vanilla at the start with a big whiskey and oak flavor at the finish. Warming and very smooth.

375 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 17.5%. Pitch black colour, large brown head. Very malty and sweetish aroma, roasty, strong notes of whisky, vanilla and oak. Intense roasty and very sweet flavour, notes of strong coffee, whisky and vanilla. Alcohol burn throughout. Too much of the good stuff.

Taster @BBF 2010. Wow - what a great beer. Whiskey flavors are well balanced within the Imp Stout confines - if you enjoy whiskey, this is one to try!

Sweet moka and wood aroma. The alcohol gets through in the nose as well. Taste of sweet coffee, wood and alcohol. Nicely balanced taste. Great beer.

19-FEB-2011, bottle @home, I guess it is a gift from Henrik? Giant lasting brown head on black (!) body. Really looks inviting. Lovely roasted barrel infused nose with whisky. Alcohol is already present on the nose. Taste is very full. Coffee - espresso, the best dark 80% chocolate. Aftertaste is alcoholic and the burn goes on forever, and then this full full full mouthfeeling with the dark roasted and dried berries like prunes and an almost eucalyptus note and still some bitterness from the hops. It IS sweet, and the glass becomes sticky, but the roastedness and whisky hides it well. Difficult to drink another beer after this. First of all I am pretty intoxicated by now, second my taste buds are numb, and third what brew could really follow this? I am thinking another black, but hey... ...not sure how my body would react to that. World class beer. Thanks, Henrik:-)
