4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
19-FEB-2011, bottle @home, I guess it is a gift from Henrik?
Giant lasting brown head on black (!) body. Really looks inviting.
Lovely roasted barrel infused nose with whisky. Alcohol is already present on the nose. Taste is very full. Coffee - espresso, the best dark 80% chocolate. Aftertaste is alcoholic and the burn goes on forever, and then this full full full mouthfeeling with the dark roasted and dried berries like prunes and an almost eucalyptus note and still some bitterness from the hops. It IS sweet, and the glass becomes sticky, but the roastedness and whisky hides it well.
Difficult to drink another beer after this. First of all I am pretty intoxicated by now, second my taste buds are numb, and third what brew could really follow this? I am thinking another black, but hey...
...not sure how my body would react to that.
World class beer. Thanks, Henrik:-)

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Small champagne bottle, 375 ml - served a bit cooler than I usually enjoys my stouts. The pour is off cause black as hell - as black as they come with a huge very dark brown head that appears very potent. The nose is roasted with tons of coffee and caramel notes. The whisky hugs your nose and blends in very nicely. There are raisins and something that reminds me of the chocolate plum in maderia with a neat touch of alcohol. The taste is extremely sweet witch are the reason why i serve it a bit cooler than usually - I think the massive sweetness works best when served cold. Long lasting taste that have a both sweet and bitter finish where the alcohol not is dominating as expected. Hint of the barrels and a whisky-touch that works perfectly with the sweet roasted coffee and chocolate fluids. The mouthfeel is creamy without getting too sticky and still biting your tounge a little due to the alcohol. This would be great as a dessert or as a beer served to some agressive cheeses og some vanilla icecream with sour berries. A huge beer that is extreme in every way.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle; bought from Beermerchants, 37.5cl, white wax.
Poured into goblet glass; great lacing thick and lasting, colour is opaque and jet black, mocha lacing. Wow massive whiskey aroma, this is da shit, some sweet marzepan and candi sugar too, rich dark Belgian chocolate, wood, oak, just LOVE the whiskey!
Taste is a rich big bad malty affair, maybe not the best balance but definitely rich, bold, aggressive, intimidating, well pumped of booze, whiskey, smoke, wood, oak, lots of wood chip, slight grainial element, leather, earthyness, bitterness is fantastic, so so mourish and drinkability is not bad for something this potent. This really should be drunk with a selection of fine artisinal cheeses. A big bad mother of a beer. Top work again Mikkeller.
