37.5 cl bottle @ home. Pours black with a little sediment and a dark tan head that leaves quite a bit of lacing. Aroma and flavour are roasted, almost burnt, malt, chocolate, vanilla, and whiskey - with warming alcohol and bitterness in the finish.

Aroma is very sweet, lot of dark chocolate, complex rich, quite hopy, very roasted, lot of mocha. Finish is very roasted, lot of dark chocolate and dark coffee with very long aftertaste, quite bitter finish.

Bottle 37,5 cl. Pours black in color with a brown head. Whiskey, vanilla, some coffee and chocolate in aroma. Feels quite smooth. Roasted, dark burnt malty notes, licorice and chocolate in taste. A bit of boozy warming in aftertaste. But on the whole feels like quite a nice winter sipper.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
375ml bottle from Kamiel. Didn’t really realize what I was opening when I popped this one so needless to say it was a lengthy sipper at 17.5% and no one to share it with. Jet black with a dense and creamy light brown head that mostly fades to a thin film and a nice ring around the glass. Has to warm up to open up and remove all metallic notes - at this point there is a light rubbing alcohol aroma, anise, some oak, whiskey, bit of vanilla bean remains and perhaps some pear or red apples that try to make it through everything else but only impart a nuance. Mild carbonation and a full body, the alcohol is somewhat muted (compared to the aroma) on the palate and although its sweet and boozy its not overwhelming which is surprising; coats your mouth in a viscous slightly hot film, booze and a chewy maltiness on the finish. Tasty but I recommend sharing this one!

Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass:
I had the opportunity to try this beer some years ago at Borefts, but instead of drinking only Mikkeller beer, I decided to taste more different beers and along some others I forgot this one. Luckily I found this beer (again) at either De Molen or De Bierkoning. And I also got a bottle in the mail from Papsø... Thanks all for excisting (not forgetting Mikkeller) and letting me buy and receive a bottle of which I can taste or better, close to nipping this Imperial Nectar. Already an aroma and taste which you say Imperial too with the capital I!
I am so happy the carbonation is so low. I have to admit a bottle with wax looks just a bit more luxerous and expensive, but it’s a crime to open these. The cap just bended a little bit and I could here a little shhh... Luckily even with a quick reaction of trying to open the bottle, the carbonation was so low that a gusher never could have been. The pour is pitch black which causes a pitch black beer to appear in my glass with a medium to just a bit bigger sized brown (!) vast and slowly changing foamy head. Beautiful!
This beer needs to breath a bit and it gets a lot better than when you just open the beer. A complex aroma tickles the nostrils: there is a certain amount of whisky that covers a subtle but complex mix of wood, vanilla, some peat and oak. There is a present touch of brown sugars, deep roasted presentation and dark chocolate with some coffee and coffee roast. The alcohol causes to detect a pinch of spices.
The flavour is round, complex, thick and absolutely flavourfull: dark roasted tones (coffee, barley malts, hay and wood), brown and caramelised sugars, , wood, chalk, bark and oak, there is dark chocolate and dark thick liquorice, liquor ish, oily, spices, sticky, bitter, even a sweet touch. Did I cover all? No, not at all, there is more and I might forget some; coffee, earth, espresso, some creamy milk and coffee, malts, peppers, alcohol burn but gentle, lingering bitterness, light nutty, some sweet tar tones, some coal and a light ash tint, some molasses and roasted wood sprinkle to cover all... Cover all? Covers thus far I think it can cover all... Pfff tasty and complex!
Aftertaste has a variety of flavours: bitter, spicy, chocolate, dark roast bitters, some sugars, light sticky, whiskey and liquor, light earthy touch and a thick malty backbone. Far from boring!
The carbonation is as the label mentions low, the mouthfeel is thick, oily and spicy, the body is full, very full (!) and the texture is thick, oily and sticky.
A hell of an interesting beer, deep, dark, thick, complex, awesome! Even though you might be scared by the ABV this beer carries, it is it worth to drink this at least once in your life!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. Poured deep brown with a well-retained dark tan head. The aroma picked up toasted and nearly-burnt soy sauce, licorice, and other brown malts with accents of peppery whiskey, vanilla bean, and a kiss of rye.. some honey or similar sweetness also supported and helped boost the boozage.. warm and surprisingly well balanced. The flavor found burnt soy sauce, licorice, and coffee at the core with more delicately toasted brown malts, pine resin, and peppery alcohol around.. whiskey showed up more toward the finish, and rounded it out well.. some oxidation back there too.. overall very tasty. Heavy-bodied with moderate carbonation on the palate.. balance was especially good considering the alcohol.. I really enjoyed it.
