Bottle@bamboo bar. One finger foam. Black coffee. Coffee notes especially in the after taste. Intense. Some alcoholic feelings but not as expected.

Tap @Amundsen It's close to perfection. Strong, dark and balanced. You can taste the alcohol, but it's almost all hidden. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

[0.5 bottle, served: beer glass] This was second time I tried this out, and this is definitely one of my favorites. Appearance: very dark black look, with really magnificent dark foam. The beer and foam has great "thick" look. Already just looking at this beer, it looks tasteful. Aroma: bitter chocolate here with some nice spices here and there. At some moments some dark bread, I guess in English it’s called rye-bread, some very tasty bread here in Latvia. Taste: hard to comment, there’s so many great details in the taste. A bit of burned caramel, a bit of coffee, that turns into very nice bitter aftertaste. But the bitterness is just pure greatness. And, of course, can really feel that there are those 17.5 "alcohols" in this beer, but that doesn’t matter, that just gives some more detailed texture to this. Somehow when I tried this some year ago, it was more sweeter, as I recall, but this time it was more bitter. Anyhow great beer!

0,375 l bottle, shared with Ogreface, Csakajósör, Budapest.
Poured black hole with a brutal creamy beige-brown head. Aroma of ash, leather, roasted grains and dark chocolate, molasses and candy sugar, fruits by hops, huge ammount of cocoa and burnt wood, earth and tobacco. Oh my god....Huge body with some animal character, ash and dust, wood and fire, burnt wood, roasted grains, alcohol and liquerice, molasses and tobacco. Fantastic.

Black color with amazing head (for the ABV) 1 finger with beautiful brownish color. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, something a bit like red wine sourness. Taste is light sweet and medium to heavy bitter, you can’t say it is 18,1 % ABV. Medium body, oily slick texture, flat carbonation. Pretty hoppy for a imperial stout, also its quite dry and smokey. It is for sure interesting.

375 mL bottle from Premier Gourmet in Buffalo, served in a stem glass alongside Black Tokyo Horizon and its other constituent beers at a tasting with Chris. Pours black with a moderate tan head that mostly remains and leaves a moderate amount of fine lace. The nose has big coffee and roasted malts, along with a significant California hoppiness and a hint of chocolate. The flavour is huge hops throughout, with roasty malts, earth and some smoke. It becomes even more bitter towards the finish, which is long and hugely bitter. On the palate, it is full in body with a smooth, syrupy texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a great hoppy imperial stout. Hops are huge and perhaps too much, especially in the finish. Aging might do wonders here. 2013-01-25

Bottle. Pours thick syrup and black with little head. Dark chocolate and coffee aroma. Taste is a little boozy but strong dark roasted grains slightly bitter that sticks to the back of your throat.

Simply the darkest, thickest pour I’ve ever seen. When held up to the light, you cannot see any red tinge, or anything but blackness for that matter. Thick, thick, thick. Aromas of unimaginable roast, thick black cock and more roast. Taste is surprisingly bitter and dry, with little residual sugar. Wow. Very chewy. I could suck on this phallus all night, but I won’t. I’ll finish it off quickly and move on to the next one, because that’s how I roll. I’m a machine. Fuck yes.

This beer is the closest I’ve ever been to God.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; pitch black pour, massive frothy tan head, roast malt and alcohol aroma, warming alcohol taste quite sweet with a hint of chocolate and coffee, bitter. This is one big impy stout very impressive.
