The strongest beer in Scandinavia. This imperial stout is the craziest, wildest, strongest beer from Mikkeller to this date. Not for sissies.......! Sample it fresh or store it for many many years to come!
Ingredients : Water, malt, roasted barley, dark cassonade, ale yeast and champagne yeast.

I’ve had this a few times now and it’s difficult to rate, in part because the alcohol hotness takes away from some of the good roasted, burnt toast and coffee flavors and lends a much more assertive mouthfeel. If it was scaled back it would be more palatable, but then again, this beer was meant to be a little extreme, so I guess the abrasiveness is really the point. So, it’s a little like an imperial stout with a couple shots of good vodka.

On tap at underground. Pitch black with an oatmeal cap and great, dense lacing. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, molasses, vanilla. Taste is sweet, and very bitter from the dark chocolate and coffee beans. Very sticky.

Extreme beer! Wow. Great, complex stout with a lot of hints. Chocolate, coffee, roasted and hops. Hoppy/bitter aftertaste. Very nice.

Una de las mejores cervezas que he probado. Fuerte sabor a cafe con un final fuerte con un excelente balance entre el lupulo y el alto contenido alcoholico. El sabor te queda un buen tiempo, una cerveza para disfrutar y tomarla lentamente.

Had this many times (tap and bottle), but following review is from the best I’ve had. Bottle 37.5 cl, 2007 vintage big ups to Werner. Pours as black as your ex wife’s heart, with a quickly fading dark coffee colored head. Aroma is pungent alcohol, with underlying coffee, fruity hops and candy sugar. Also some madeira, sherry. Taste is fairly muddled behind the alcohol. Everything pretty much happens on the finish here. First hit of alcohol burn and sweetness is washed away with intense bitterness from hops and roasted malts. Mouthfeel is thin and boozy. Not my favorite imperial stout, but this vintage blew every other version I’ve had clean out of the water. Well worth chasing an older bottle.

Bottle, 2012 vintage. Black (of course!) with a surprisingly big light brown head. Vanilla, sweetness, dark chocolate, port/sherry notes. Sweet at first, vanilla, then chocolate, coffee, sweet liquorice, almost herbal bitterness, sweetness again and biting but not disturbing alcohol. Smooth mouthfeel, soft low carbonation. Huge bitter long lasting after taste.
Like a beefed up, bitter Black Hole. Nice.

Strong coffee smell, not really my thing. Looks great, nice and dark. Tastes of nice chocolate and very much coffee at first. However, the aftertaste is too bitter and too much coffee (unbalanced) for me.

Bottle@rotterdam, hki. Black & flat. Very vinous, sherry-port- like nose with roasted barley, espresso beans underneat. Full, soft smooth body with an undisturbing (alc?) kick in the finish. There’s a million thing going on here. There’s sweetness, soy sauce, dark coffee in the burps, roasted malts. As a fan of port wine, this is truly amazing. It’s been too long (i.e., the last time I had it) since I’ve had a beer as delicious and sippable. It pleases just about every type of tastebud I know of- the sweet, salty, umami-savory. I bet this would make a great replacement for soy sauce with sushi..

Mikkeller. black, 17,5 % Duft: parfumeriet, sæd, Smag: meget fin smag af malt efter en god sødme som slutter med en lang eftersmag af sprit, lakrids og kaffe noder

Black beer with no head. Full toffee nose with alcoholnotes. A bit salty. Notes of soil and sweet raisins. Coffee flavour with fuity notes. Dry bitterness with lots of alcohol. Extremely heavy.
