The strongest beer in Scandinavia. This imperial stout is the craziest, wildest, strongest beer from Mikkeller to this date. Not for sissies.......! Sample it fresh or store it for many many years to come!
Ingredients : Water, malt, roasted barley, dark cassonade, ale yeast and champagne yeast.

I usually scroll past this beer, but the price was lowered (close out beer) to $13. Strong aroma of dried fruit, molasses, tobacco. Flavor of rum, vanilla, dried fruit sweetness (think raisin), green pepper, a little soy though not as much as I was expecting. Quite complex and the sweetness does cut some off some of the alcohol bite. Certainly a sipper and warming as it goes down. A little rough on the palate. But I do feel some enjoyment. I was expecting something similar to triple bock, but I think this is better. Probably won’t be buying any more, but glad to try this once.

Coffee bomb aroma, espresso, malts’ promising. Mouthfeel has a very sharp bitter hop finish which is too prevalent and even overwhelming. The older batches were more balanced. A true let down.

2015-02-06. Black body with a small tan head. 3+ Aroma is boozy, modest roast with a tangy almost savoury quality to it. Flavour is fairly bitter, dry and roasty, light fruit lingering bitterness and warming alcohol. Tangy savoury fruit meets soy sauce notes. Touches of chocolate fruit. Average plus to medium bodied palate, light carbonation. Decent but disappointing. Bottle from the LCBO shared by mds.

Pours pitch black with a nice tan head that surprisingly fades really quickly. The aroma is, in fact, a bit disappointing. Some chocolate, some coffee, a hint of pleasant alcohol. As it gets warmer it intensifies but mostly on the alcoholic side. The taste, however, is a completely different story. First a really strong punch of chocolate spreads on the palate, then comes the bitterness mixed with roasted notes, chocolate, coffee. The aftertaste is coffe, coffe, coffe. Alcohol is present, but in a very good way. It is not the complexity that makes the beer unique as the beer is not complex at all. It is the level of flavours that will not make you forget it. Were the aroma better...

0,375L bottle (from bierkompass.de). Pours black with light brown head. The head stays. Aroma is roast, some sourness, berries, alcohol. Flavor is sweet, roast, malt, alcohol, licorice, and berries. Finish is long roast bitter. Overall: good, but too boozy. The alcohol isn’t the nasty kind, but some 15-16% ABV brews cover alcohol a lot better, so there is no excuse for this.

Pour at Lucky Baldwin’s Trappist in Pasadena. Thick oily black pour with a slight tan head. Massive malt sweetness, ridiculous how little booze is present. Fun to sip but it would be rough having an entire bottle of this!

Black beer, small to medium tan head. Nose is a ton of malt, roast, and a whole lot of booze. Flavor has a berry character to it, somehow, among all the roast, booze and malt. Some hop notes in there. Not easy to drink, was a bit harsh. Probably would age into something very special. Shared by martjoobolut, thanks!

Pours black as night. It's the first beer I drank out of a green bottle that was not skunked when I opened it. You can smell the booze from 6 feet away. Very very very strong Imperial Stout almost burns on the way down. One bottle for the entire cold night. The taste is your typical Imperial Stout but that high alcohol content really send it over the edge. You must experience this at least once - maybe twice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
