Black as pitch. Tarry and intensely roasty. Loads of char, vineous and salty. There is an interesting cooked fruit aroma with burnt plum and fig as well as a massively boozy finish. A big roasty/salty finish with a really intense salty character. Sticky and rich with a savoury finish. Soy and a bit of roasty sourness. Unique but not my bag at all.

Jet black pour with a decent looking head and cling lace. Smoked peat aroma. Mix of flavours from winter berries, plum, raisins and fig. Salty, Marmite finish. Really hits the back of the throat.

375 mL bottle. Very dark brown pour, thin dark sandy head. Aroma is dark coffee, bitter, not a lot of the alcohol that I was expecting. It shows up in the taste though, which starts out coffee, dark chocolate, licorice, then lots of alcohol warmth. Slick oily body, heavy body.

On tap at Cardinal. Pours black with creamy brown head. Aroma roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, alcohol, slightly sour. Taste sugary sweet, coffee, roasted malt, alcohol, umami. Bitter-roasted aftertaste. Generally a good beer, but probably forms a "neutral taste" base for the barrel aged versions; it thus has only little own character for a beer that strong.

375ml bottle. Motor oil black with a frothy tan head. Flavors are burnt malts, licorice, chocolate and ethanol. Full body, moderate carbonation, syrupy texture. Unmissable alcohol kick. Not particularly enjoyable.

Svart utseende med medium hyde p det espressobrune skummet. Aroma av likr, sjokolade, lakris, rstet malt og kaffe. Smaken er stort sett samme som aromaen, men du kjenner alkoholen selv om det ikke er skjemmende. St, meget st. Medium bitterhet i ettersmaken fr du kjenner alkoholen varme godt nedover halsen. Tykk konsistens.

tap at Beergeek Bar, Prague on 28/12/2014. black color, dark coffee colored hdead. smells of dark coffee, some chocolate, some caramel, liqueur, malty, some sweetness. full body, very full mouthfeel. very oily, tastes sweet & bitter, bitter chocolate, raisins, alcoholic warmth, quite heavy, a sipper, overall more sweet than bitter, liqueurish, chocolate sweetness. for me almost a bit too heavy, too much mouthfeel and too much sweetness, but still liked it. will give this another try from an (aged) bottle.

Bottle from Kris Wines. Its been aged for 4 years. I was highly skeptical of the label that said this keeps until 2020, and thus it is proved in this bottle. Opaque very dark brown to black with a brown tan head. Looks good. Nose is very yeasty, savoury, Marmite yeast extract, salty, soy sauce, and then a nasty dose of sherry, plastic phenol, oxidisation, paint stripper, fermented apple, and then roasted malt. Taste is a cacophony of dissonant flavours. Roasted malt, soy sauce, Marmire, saltiness, oxidised wine, fermented apple, plasticky. Pretty undrinkable.

Jet-black colour with great beige head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, alcohol, and roasted bread. Sweet taste, sour fron roasted malts, some ash, lot of black coffee.
