From paper: Bottle. Very nice broad aroma of spicyness and sweet berries. A completely dark beer with an almost oil-ish substance. Head is golden and thick but disappears after a short while. Aftertaste is a bit too bitter after my opinion and maybe the beer is slightly too sweet also. Nevertheless it is a fantastic beer and you cannot really sense the 16% of alcohol.

Had this on several occasions, always in bottle 375ml Pours pitch black with nice steady creamy dark beige head. Quite overwhelming aroma of chocolate, some coffee, caramel, roasted malts and oats. Huge body with lots of sweetness balanced by roasty notes, quite bitter end, low carbonation. Taste is toffee, sugar syrup. Bit boozy, but less than whiksky version.

1st edition bottle...Pours pitch black with ruby hues...no head...very heavy looking...like oil. Aroma is boozy with layers of port wine, fig, and smoky/ashiness. Flavor has lots of dark fruit...very port like...with notes of dark chocolate and faint smoke. Mouthfeel is medium and mostly flat but since it drinks like a port it works...finish is dark chocolate and dark fruit...very warming and lingering. ABV is hidden fairly well.

2012 bottle, pours pitch black with thin tan head. Not sure about the smell this one smells off and has me wondering if I have a bad bottle...well here we go, I take back everything I just said..not infected but holy schnikes it’s strong as hell not sure if age would help this sucker but the booze is really just too much for me. Still good but how the shit I am going to finish this bottle...a sipper

375ml bottle, quite possibly a 2007 bottling. Pours pitch black, with almost no head. Compact, complex aroma, soy sauce, dark chocolate, tar, asphalt, tobacco. Sweet, full bodied, mid to high bitterness, almost no CO2 at all. Thick, almost cloying taste, soy sauce, chocolate, ground coffee, earth, asphalt, ashes, raisins, figs. Quite complex, possibly a bit old? Finishes a bit rough and harsh. Impressive, but a bit disappointing. (2013-05-03)

Bottle picked up at Consumers Beverages Niagara Falls New York. Pours an absolute motor oil jet black, massive dark tan active head. Fair amount of lace to spite the Abv. Nose was initially raisins, but when it warms up the malt finally comes through, sweet, coffee, a touch of chocolate, boozy. Tastes strong bitter and like coffee grounds, the darkest of chocolate. Best as an apertif.

Bottle as shown. Pours a very dark brown with paperthin tan head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is a strong smoke, roasted malt, and chocolate. Thick mouthfeel with a roast and smoke flavor and strong booze in the finish. Good.

On tap at DLD 2013. Dark brown color, not totally opaque. Good thin brown head. Solid lace. Impressive appearance for the huge alcohol. Good coffee nose, moderate roast. Alcohol is not too hot at all, drinks way smoother than World Wide Stout, for example. Good chewiness. Light carbonation. Minimal stickiness. Huge bitter roast, love that. Some soy. Super

375ml bottle. Courtesy of Papsoe. Pours very dark, oily, with no head at all. Expiry date of 2017, so i still wonder if there´s been some storage problem. Anyway, the beer seems to be ok, no oxidation nor contamination evidences. Strong liquor aromas, among some roastty, cacao and drie fruit ones. Medium body, oily and creamy texture, flat carbonation. Taste is quite bitter, cacao, coffee, liquorice, very well balanced, with a deep and long warming aftertaste. Alcohol noticeable, of course, but not as much as may be thought at first, seeing its abv. Enjoyable.

Roasted malt, licorice aroma mixed in with a bit of chocolate liqueur. Pours black in the glass. Very sweet flavor upfront, some dark cocoa liqueur notes followed by more licorice and spice. Overall it’s freaking TASTY! 10000 thanks to BarZigkin for sharing...
